Plot Summary Part 2

Maria agrees.

Maria lets him bang her. She feels nothing, but makes a lot of money. Maria realizes she can get rich by using her v_gina, or rather, by letting other men use it.

She becomes a prostitute at a nightclub. The government demands blood samples every month to see if she has caught any v_gina sicknesses from her clients because her v_gina has become like a McDonald's drivethru window. Maria is disappointed to only make 300 francs per client; when she was a whore for the arab, he had paid her a thousand. But Maria could take three clients a night and make nearly the same, although her v_gina would have to be active full time.

Why did Maria decide to become a whore? It is never clearly explained. But Maria is trying to make enough money to go back to Brazil and buy a farm. Since she feels nothing during sex, it is like having her teeth cleaned, or getting a colonoscopy, simply in a different hole.

Maria learns that she can make more money if she groans when the client squirts into her. She feels she is an actress, pretending to be sexually satisfied with her customers.

Maria learns that whores can only make a lot of money when they are young. After a few years, they command lower and lower fees, until they barely make enough money to pay for lunch.  But Maria plans to only be a whore for a few months.

Some of Maria's clients couldn't get an erection, so Maria tried to rub their p_nises to make them feel good, heh heh. Maria realized that the time spent actually having sex was about 11 minutes. Yes, the title of the book. Sex was such a short time in everyone's lives, though the pursuit of it obviously took longer.

When Maria was bleeding from her v_gina, she could not work. No one wanted to bang her when she had a bloody wound dripping down there.

Maria meets a painter named Ralf who paints her. He claims he sees a special "light" in Maria. Ralf and Maria talk about her special "light" about 100 times, but don't expect to understand what it means. What it really means, I think, is that Ralf is attracted to Maria, it's love at first sight. Ralf knows Maria is a whore and Maria feels defensive but it doesn't bother Ralf.

Ralf tells Maria that he lost interest in sex. Immediately, Maria becomes attracted to him because she too has lost interest in sex and now they have something in common! Does this make any sense to you? No? Good!

Maria thought of the pencil boy again, and how he gave up too quickly when he tried to bone her, and how she missed the chance to be boned by him. Maybe that's why she became a whore, to make up for all those lost boning opportunities.

Maria is attracted to Ralf because unlike her clients, he is interested in her as a person and not just her vaj.

Ralf comes to the club and pays triple the normal price to spend the entire night with Maria. All they do is talk through the night. No sex. But they both love it because they are in love with each other.

Maria meets a client named Terence who likes to beat and humiliate his whores. Maria agrees to be beaten and humiliated. Why does she do this? I think Maria knows that, except with Ralf, she has felt nothing when she was with men, and wants to feel anything, even pain and humiliation, in an effort to feel something, anything.

Their first session is odd because Terence pays a lot of money but does not beat her. All he does is get her to agree to be beaten. Terence gets off on that sexually and tells her that their first session is over. How nutty is that?

Maria had another session with Ralf. She pulled down the top of her dress and showed him her breasts. Then they sat for a long time and Ralf simply stared at her breasts. They both got orgasms.

Maria felt an orgasm with Ralf simply staring at her breasts because she is in love with him.
