One Amazing Thing by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni Summary Study Guide

An old lady named Jiang used to live in India even though she is Chinese. When she was young she fell in love with an Indian guy named Mohit and wanted his slender Indian schlong inside her east asian v_gina. Both sets of parents were unhappy. Jiang's parents didn't want her to be boned by an Indian guy, and Mohit's parents didn't want him banging a Chinese girl.

Jiang's dad, speaking of the danger of interracial marriage, told her, "Can fish marry birds?"

Then India entered into a war with China and Chinese people in India were being sent to internment camps. Jiang's family couldn't get out of the country. To escape, Jiang was forced to marry some random Chinese guy who had an extra boat ticket.

Meanwhile, Mohit told Jiang to get the f away from him. He was worried about being seen with a Chinese woman while his countrymen were at war with China.

So Jiang spread her legs and let her new husband, Mr. Chan, bone her. They shared a cabin with another couple so even though they put a blanket up the other couple got to hear Mr. Chan's moans as he squirted into Jiang. He boned Jiang so much on the trip to America that by the time she got there she had sperm coming out of her ears and was pregnant ten times over.

Now, many years later, Jiang wants to return to India. Why? She was treated badly by the Indians, who wanted to put her in an internment camp, and her own boyfriend betrayed her. There's no explanation for her behavior. But this is Jiang's story.

Then Mr. Pritchett talks about his story. He talks about how when he was a boy he had a cat. He talked on and on and on about the cat. And then some time later, how he lost the cat. It's all very profound, because it if weren't profound, it would be very boring.

Then Malathi tells her story. When she lived in India she was such a retard that she couldn't get out of the tenth grade. So her parents prepared to marry her off, figuring that if the top half didn't work, at least the bottom half probably did. But Malathi didn't want to get married, instead she went to work in a beauty salon. She worked on womens' hair. It was all very interesting to read about! Really!

Not.

Anyway, one day a very important woman named Mrs. Balan came to the spa. She had come many times before and Malathi had befriended her servant named Nirmali. Nirmali was a common woman but had struck gold, marrying some rich guy. Nirmali wanted to get banged by Mrs. Balan's son Ravi, but Mrs. Balan instead arranged for Nirmali to get banged by some rich guy named Gopalan, who Malathi enthusiastically agreed to marry.

For some reason I can't understand this made Malathi very angry with Mrs. Balan, and Malathi put a chemical in Mrs. Balan's hair that caused her hair to fall out. Malathi's boss, Lola, fired Malathi, and told her to get the f out of the country before Mrs. Balan sent some guys to spray acid in her face. Spraying acid in the face is very common in India.

So Malathi fled India to come to America to work in the embassy. A very profound story! Very profound indeed!

Tariq the violent muslim tells his story. His father was arrested on suspicion of being a radical Islamic terrorist. He was released, unharmed, but shortly after being released had a stroke, and Tariq blamed America. His father became such a retard that his mother had to help his Dad go to the bathroom and squeeze the manure out of his buttocks.
