Aibileen: Aibileen is a housekeeper for Miss Leefort who takes care of the baby Mae Mobley. Aibileen is kind and sensitive but mistrustful of white people.

 

Mae Mobley: Mae Mobley is the white baby who Aibileen takes care of. Mae Mobley thinks Aibileen is her real mother and Mae Mobley thinks she herself is black. Heh heh.

 

Miss Hilly: Miss Hilly is a racist who hates black people and Skeeter's number one enemy.

 

Skeeter: Skeeter is an ugly white girl who can't get boned so she becomes a social justice warrior.

 

Minny: Minny is an angry black maid who hates white people. Despite that, she acquires some affection for Miss Celia (see below).

Miss Celia: Celia is a hopeless housewife who cannot cook or clean, and babies keep sliding out of her v_gina into the toilet prematurely. But her husband Johnny loves her, probably for the sex.

 

Stuart: Stuart is a white guy who alternately courts and dumps Skeeter, over and over.
