Plot Summary Part 3

Zzzzzzz.

Pat gets a long letter from Tiffany. She offers to pass messages to Nikki if Pat dances with her in a dance competition. Evidently there is a special dance competition, ONLY for retarded people. Tiffany wants Pat to dance with her in the retarded dance competition, and to train with her. If he does that, she will pass messages back and forth between him and Nikki.

Tiffany also tells Pat that Nikki divorced him, got all his assets, and has a restraining order against him because Pat did something REALLY REALLY VIOLENT which he doesn't remember.

Pat agrees to dance with Tiffany. In the book, Pat warns us that descriptions of his dance training could be "boring" to read about. He's right. An entire chapter of dance rehearsals is very, very boring.

When an author warns you, through a character, that what you're about to read is boring, and it is, then the author isn't doing a good job of keeping the reader entertained.

Skipping the boring chapter, Pat dances with Tiffany at the retarded dance festival. All his family and friends are there and they give him great applause, as if he has just won a war or found the cure for cancer. They treat him very patronizingly, as if to say, "Look, the retarded person can actually dance! How tremendous!" but Pat is not sophisticated enough to realize he is being patronized. He feels like he is some great hero.

He's not. He just danced. But we are supposed to think this is some tremendous evolution for him.

Pat sends his first "letter" to Nikki through Tiffany. His first letter is his diary, all 200 pages of it.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!

When Nikki writes back, she says that she doesn't want to read 200 pages from him. Tiffany tells him she has remarried and another guy is banging her now, probably one who is not retarded. She says that she cheated on Pat because he was not good in bed, and that she will never get back together with him. For women, p_nis size is very, very important.

Pat writes back to Nikki, telling her that she should take him back because now he is a good dancer, heh heh. Nikki had also recommended that he read the book Huckleberry Finn, and Pat thinks that by recommending Huckleberry Finn that Nikki secretly is telling him she wants to get back together with him. Pat also tells her that Cliff has him so heavily drugged up that he can't be violent any more.

Hahahahahahahahaha.

Sorry, I had to stop writing for a moment!

Nikki writes him back, saying that by recommending Huckleberry Finn she wasn't trying to get back together with him. She reiterates that she is never getting back together. Pat had written about the time he had boned her in a cheap motel and Nikki says that nowadays she would never let anyone bone her in a cheap hotel. Nikki has much higher standards now!

Pat writes back that Cliff says he is no longer compatible with Nikki because he is a retard and Nikki isn't, and that Cliff suggested that he bone Tiffany instead because she is already crazy like him. But Pat says he wants to meet Nikki face to face. He promises not to be violent, or crazy, or dangerous, ha ha ha.

Nikki writes back that she will never see Pat again.

Pat writes back that he still thinks life is a movie and therefore he is entitled to a happy ending. He invites Nikki to meet him again.

Nikki writes him back one last time, telling him to keep the f away from her.

Pat, still convinced he is in a movie and about to have a happy ending, is convinced Nikki will meet him. But when he goes to the appointed place at the appointed time, it is Tiffany, not Nikki, who shows up.

Tiffany says that all the letters from Nikki were actually from her. She said that Nikki doesn't give a flying fuck about Pat and wants nothing to do with him. Tiffany claims she was trying to help Pat by giving him closure on Nikki. But Tiffany's real agenda was getting the idea of Nikki out of the way so Pat could bang her.
