The Captain: The main character of the book. He's a Vietnamese communist spy who works for the General (see below) and follows him to America, continuing to spy for the communist Vietnamese. But he feels conflict between his commie instincts and his urges to help his friend, Bon, who is anti-communist. The Captain is half French and half Vietnamese.
Man: Man is the Captain's communist superior who gives him orders. Man, the Captain, and Bon were all buddies, although Bon did not know that the Captain and Man were commies.
Bon: Bon is close friends with the Captain and Bon; he is unaware that the two are commies. Bon's wife and child are killed in the Vietnam war, which makes him very angry; he lives only to kill others.Click here to see the rest of this review
