What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty Summary Study Guide

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of What Alice Forgot

Plot Summary Part 3

* Alice is told that once she gets her memory back, she won't want to stay married to Nick, but he won't tell her why.

This is really most of the main story. The story has three parts:

1) The literary cock tease described above.

2) Elizabeth moaning about her v_gina spitting out dead children.

3) Alice being surrounded by her whining kids.

Yes, Alice, with a serious head injury and amnesia, is reunited with her children. Why not? Does anyone see anything strange about that? Alice has no idea who they are but her children are given back to her to let her take care of them as if nothing had happened. So we have pages and pages of the kids whining.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth finds out she is pregnant, again. But she starts bleeding from her v_gina and she thinks that her v_gina has eaten the latest baby again. However that hasn't happened and her v_gina finally works normally and spits out a complete baby. Hooray for ending this tedious subplot!

(Oh, and after she gives birth, Elizabeth adopts three Vietnamese kids. I guess she wanted a big family and knew that her killer vaj wouldn't be satisfied if she tried again. One wonders, though, why Elizabeth went to Vietnam to adopt when there were plenty of black kids in America who needed parents. Could Elizabeth, sweet Elizabeth, be a racist? I do believe so.)

Back to the A-Plot. Suddenly, Alice gets her memory back. She remember EVERYTHING.

1) Who was Gina?

Gina was Alice's best friend. Gina was killed by a tree. Really. A tree fell on her. Maybe she would have been safer sticking around bushes, heh heh. Anyway, Alice was upset that Gina died because... Gina was her best friend. That's it. There's no mystery. It's actually quite simple.

2) Why is she divorcing Nick?

Previously, Alice had been told that she was divorcing Nick because he wasn't around much and didn't show enough affection. But she KNEW there had to be more to the story! When Alice got her memory back, she remembered. She knew why she wanted to divorce Nick! It was because.... he wasn't around much and didn't show enough affection.

It was exactly what she had been told. There was absolutely no mystery about it. It was as plain and simple as could be.
