Daynin is a young Scottish farm boy whose quiet life in middle England is turned upside down when he finds what looks like a headstone in his grandfather's field. Boozer, a disfigured old magician, comes along and identifies the object as the Scythian Stone of legend and sets out (supposedly) to help Daynin find a buyer.
