I just finished this book by A.J.Langguth which I believe was published in '88. It should be mandatory reading for all Americans. Mr. Langguth's research is outstanding which allows for little interesting tidbits I've never read in other books. The accompanying maps are so helpful as well. I have never read a book on this era that was so thoroughly tied together - showing how one event or person influenced another.
