I grew up in Baltimore and while this movie depicted a Russian-Jewish family, it was very like my own Irish/Welsh/German family. I remember the circus coming to town. The fountain in Druid Hill Park. My folks moving to the suburbs, the Valley Inn, Pennsylvania Avenue, my grandparents living in the "marble-step" houses etc. etc. etc. It was a wonderful way to grow up and a wonderful movie. Levinson hits another home run.

I saw this in the theater and remember crying throughout. Very moving and very real. Zeke Steiner
