Betty Mahmoody Message Board

Yolanda Palmer posts on 10/6/2010 1:21:08 PM Hi Betty , We spoke on the phone over 20 yrs ago and I am a mother of a son who was kidnapped from me while in Nigeria. My question to you can you give me advise about getting my story published or how to find a agent? I really do want to thank you for so many years ago and the conversation we had. I have a very compelling story
notwithoutmydaughterS posts on 9/15/2010 5:36:15 PM Betty, you helped me get out of Iran, you trully saved my daughters. I lived there for two years,my husband changed and hasn't been the one I married ever since. While there,he always threatened me and I played his game until I was able to get out of the country. Now he realised what I've done and complains that I've abducted his kids.Which is not true,he can see them anytime but not in Iran. With Betty's story in my mind I lived while I was there, never forgetting that it could be me running away like that.No woman should live in a place where is has no rights, where her child can be taken away from her or where she can grow up thinking these things are normal. Iran is not a place for my daughters,no matter how nice people are. They are human beings, not chicken brains how some people call women over there and deserves the right to live in a free country as a free person. If I'll ever divorce my husband,I'm pretty sure I'll have to go in hiding,I'm not taking any chances,I remember every threat.

marlyn harris posts on 7/18/2010 7:26:46 AM My daughter and 4 young children cannot leave Israel. Civil Court - Family Court judge stated:"the Shaish children should relocate to family in America as they have been damaged in Body and Soul" My daughter has a divorce from the Religious court-there was so much abuse that I cannot write about it. Since Family Court made the dicision, the father went to Religious court to put the children on a list that they cannot exit Israel......children see father once a week in a government office with supervision....it upsets them so much to see him after he was so bad to them....what else can we do? I wrote to political people who answered all they do for US but nothing about this terrible problem. Please offer some help in suggestions for us, thank you, Marlyn Harris, Phila PA
Erin posts on 6/14/2010 5:27:17 PM What people who question Mahmoody's story have to remember, is that over 20 years ago when this story took place, all of this was well documented with Mahmoody's passport stamped in Turkey, cables to and from the state department, and even her bus ticket from Turkey. I even think copies of her passport were made available to the press. The problem is, what is she supposed to do, prove her story year after for the benefit of new readers?

Susan posts on 6/7/2010 1:19:06 PM Beverly, I'd be happy to discuss this with you in private if you'd like to contact me via email. You can reach me at a_elle at msn dot com . The very first thing I would say is, you have to stay calm about this because becoming frantic won't help you or your daughter. I hope to hear from you.
