posts on 4/24/2006 12:30:16 PM I think the It Girl is a very good book to read, and for all you people who don't like it then why do you actually spend the time to write on about how trashy it is? The It Girl is a great book and thats all there is to it.
posts on 4/21/2006 11:41:29 AM i think the debate about this book is totally ridiculous. i mean its a book and its fiction. if it was real then maybe there would be a problem. how about you people with nothing better to do than to trash this book go home and read you stupid school books and get out. i love these books because it takes me away from those school books that we dread so much. you people are reading too much into it and arent getting the real picture that it really is a stupid teen book that isnt made to make you think. its there for pure entertainment. and plus the stuff we all watch on tv is MUCH worse that this book. and teen girls arent getting any wrong ideas from this book that they havent already gotten from the media already. so chill OUT! so basically you know how i feel. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!! i cant get enough of them and cant wait for more series like this to come out!!
posts on 4/10/2006 10:34:29 PM Everyone is entitled to read whatever they want. However, recently I came upon the book The It Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar while writing a term paper and I was shocked. There was absolutely no redeeming value in this novel. Sure, anyone is free to write what sells, the problem I have with this author is that she writes specificaly for young women and she is writing trash. She is glorifying materialism, sexual promiscuity, and drug and alcohol use. Her characters have no morals at all...they are not even good friends to each other. The relationships between the characters are all completly shallow and I just think it's irresponsible to promote the idea that a woman's value is in her social position in high schoolor how "hot" she is or her enormous breats. I mean really it would be bad enough if these charcters were in college but they are in highschool. I mean as women are these the types of people we want to read about? What does that say about us? These books are irresonsible and vapid.
Blair <3 posts on 4/5/2006 4:11:55 PM i heard there was a movie coming out and that lindsay lohan is playing serena...eww she is so not right for that part, i was thinking more along the lines of Blake Lively, shes gorgeous!
Mary-Jane posts on 4/2/2006 5:43:21 PM I think those who critize Gossip Girls forget the true meaning behind why they read..i know for myself and when i read i love to get lost in the characters lives and stories.. sometimes its not about the messages but the entertianment of the novel...face the facts not evreything on TV sends a good message but people still watch it...
Jade posts on 4/2/2006 4:58:23 PM Gossip girls a great book and I don't care how much any one bad mouths it, as I will continue to buy them.
