Steve posts a message on 2/28/2006 8:17:13 AM Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria (47°33'12.18"N, 10°44'12.90"E ) provided the aerial shots for The Castle of Baron Bomberg, whilst most of the scenes in the film which were in and around the Castle were filmed on what is called the ‘backlot' at Pinewood Studios (51°33'5.49"N, 0°32'10.12"W). If you look around Pinewood you'll also make out the bridge and the pond where Truly sits to sing her song after they've been to the Beach. The beach on which the family play and relax (and where the kids sing ‘Truly Scrumptious') was somewhere around St Tropez in France. I have what I think is the location but must admit I'm not 100% certain – try 43°10'20.74"N, 6°38'24.07"E It certainly looks like the right place. That really just leaves the BRIDGE which the spies tried to blow up - haven't yet been able to locate this. Anyone help me?
Steve posts a message on 2/28/2006 5:09:44 AM Slight correction: The duckpond is in the tiny little 'hamlet' of Russell's Water, near to Nettlebed. Its a lovely quiet spot, with a seat so well worth a visit in the Spring to sit and take it all in. Co ords for Google Earth are : 51°36'7.32"N, 0°58'41.95"W If you haven't heard of Google Earth do a search for it on Google and download it - most amazing !!
Steve posts a message on 2/27/2006 8:55:12 AM Jo, I've been very interested in the Chitty filming locations .... my findings are as follows (and if you're a Google Earth fan I've put the Lat/Long coords too): The Windmill (51°37'1.52", 0°53'22.89"W) home of the Potts is located on the hill above Turville (51°36'49.30"N, 0°53'35.09"W) in Buckinghamshire. The Sweet Factory (albeit only the brief shot of the outside in the film) was the Kempton Park Water Treatment Centre (51°25'32.14"N, 0°24'15.82"W) in Southwest London, although you'll any get a glimpse of it from the main A3 dual carriageway. Chitty drives through Hambleden (51°34'20.42"N, 0°52'12.61"W) whilst they sing the song. The duck pond is in a quiet little place called Nettlebed in Bucks. Co ords to follow
