I believe possibly the line in the song that's hard to understand is this.
"He takes from them he merely meets,
forgets how brief his stay".
Given the context and subject matter of the verses that come before and after, this could be what is being said.
Understand as well that the lyrics are written to approximate the English of that era.
Presumably early to mid 19th century England.
Just one idea.

I would like to know where I can find the musical score to "God Bless Us Everyone" from the 1984 movie "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott. It would be a wonderful song for Madrigals to sing. If anyone has this information on if and where I can get this, it would be wonderful!

When will the soundtrack for the 1984 film, A Christmas Carol be out. I am looking for the song "God Bless Us, Everyone".

I, too, am looking for the lyrics and music for the song "God Bless Us One and All" from the 1984 version of "A Christmas Carol" that they sing at the end of the movie. I find other lyrics and other tunes, but the one I want for choir purposes is the one that is from the movie. Any help will be appreciated!

Hi, I have the sheet music to 'God Bless Us Everyone' in Alan Menken's Songbook. (Music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens). The lyrics are "Let the stars in the sky etc..." Does anyone know whether there is sheet music with the lyrics "The past of man is cold as ice etc..." as I prefer these lyrics! I'm a bit confused - is the tune the same for both these lyrics? - as I've only recently watched the 2005 DVD of 'A Christmas Carol - The Musical' and have not seen the previous versions you have mentioned on this board. I would appreciate your comments!! Many thanks!
