A Christmas Carol (1984) Message Board

Richard posts a message on 12/24/2005 7:03:29 PM The lyrics are already included in my last post. Sorry that the site doesn't break them down by line, despite my entering returns after every line. I did capitalize each line, so you can still know where each line begins and ends. To clarify, the song doesn't appear in the 1984 version. It does appear, in multiple forms, in the 2004 version starring Kelsey Grammer.

Michael posts a message on 12/23/2005 11:37:39 PM PJ, I would greatly appreciate if you would email me the actual lyrics. This song has literally haunted me (in a positive way) ever since I first saw the movie. Why on Earth it isn't recorded somewhere by somebody ios a mystery, not to mention what a fabulously melodic instrumental it would make. Merry Christmas and Thank you, Michael in Buffalo

PJ posts a message on 12/23/2005 1:31:24 PM I have the actual lyrics to "God Bless Us Everyone" if anyone is still interested. Just email me.
Paul Chandler posts a message on 10/10/2005 11:45:13 PM Kent La Rue you're wonderful!! And a Merry Christmas 2005. Paul
Paul Chandler posts a message on 10/10/2005 11:43:10 PM Fantastic!!! I think you've done it. I got the same wet eyes as I read your "decoding" with the tune in my mind. I've copied it and it will join my Holiday Songs list. It's so sad its actual author is so silent on this beautiful Christmas Song he composed. Maybe he didn't extend the copyright rights for the song beyond the movie(?) for some reason. I think you're crack at it ...seems 98% accurate....or better.
kent La rue posts a message on 10/10/2005 5:50:07 PM By the way, the composer is Nick Bikat, who also wrote the marvelous score for the Irish RM, on BBC in the mid 80's.
Kent La Rue posts a message on 10/9/2005 11:38:34 AM To Jessica's request for Christmas Carol Lyrics I could not find the lyrics published anywere and requests to the composer went unanswered. However.... I listened to the video about 100 times and came up with these lyrics. Some words were completely unintelligile so I made a few up to fit rhymes that I could hear, etc. It's probably about 90-95% accurate. I playe it on guitar in the key of C Verse C F C Am G7 C C F C Am G7 C F G Em Dm F Dm G F G C Am F Dm G Refrain F G C Am F Dm G7 F G C Am Dm G7 C There was a man as cold as ice, he would not mend his ways He hoarded silver in his heart and gold in all his days (bays?) His reasoning was anger sharp and sorrow all his pay He went to church but once a year and that was Christmas Day The present man is full of flame, he rushes here and there He turns to aid the orphan child, the widow in her chair He takes the lad he rarely meets once treated with dismay and makes amends with all his coins in church on Christmas Day So grant us all a change of heart, rejoice full merry, son, and peace on earth to all mankind, God bless us everyone From ranks of souls we do not know they came in peace on earth Amid the glory of the word the message of the birth And gather all the children in to banish their dismay To proudly stand among the rest in church on Christmas Day repeat refrain
Jessica posts a message on 9/27/2005 11:15:56 AM can anyone send me the full score or lyrics to "God bless us every one." I need them for a youth choir i am conducting, and I cannot seem to find them!
Richard Auclair posts a message on 1/12/2005 7:50:35 PM Wish I've heard this before I gave Mother the VCR. Now I've got the videotape but nowhere to play it--I'll get back to you.
