john-paul posts on 12/10/2009 10:09:44 PM does anyone know when his new book is coming out?
Snedecor posts on 12/10/2009 5:14:00 PM I like your books I've read all o them except the fourth on I hope you write it quickly because fans are waiting!
DragonRising posts on 11/5/2009 11:48:39 PM That might be true, but other authors tend to hide it under wonderful characters and gripping stories. Many reviews from respected magazines and newspapers also say that CP didn't bother to hide many of the similarities and they just stare at you. It also copies many different things from LOTR, like elves, theories, names, etc. The Inheritance Cycle is also very poorly written, the way it starts to jump around a lot shows an author who doesn’t know how to keep a story line interesting without switching to a more interesting character. I don't like the Inheritance Cycle because 1. The abundance of plagiarism, 2. How poorly written it is, 3. People think CP is a protégé (protégé - someone that has mastered an art by 12) and they read his work because it was written by a 15 year old (it wasn't, he was 17 when he was finished and his parents started their own publishing company to get his book out and not send it to large publishing company, through that someone found it and decided to publish it with a big company) and he graduated high school at 15 (he was homeschooled, it is much easier to make your own curriculum and go faster because you can take more advanced courses and you have a lot more flexibility). These are the main reasons I dislike the Inheritance Cycle. If you would like further discussion, I welcome it, please send me an email at - randalthor_3@hotmail.com . Please title the email as something dealing with the Inheritance Cycle.WOT fan

KayJay posts on 11/3/2009 4:20:10 PM I don't think that it is Star Wars, even if some parts were based on it. I definitely think that CP's books are much more interesting than Star Wars. I still think that there are many authors that take plenty from other books, not just CP.
DragonRising posts on 9/26/2009 6:01:50 PM No, his strory isnt original. It's just StarWars all over again. He even says he takes *SOME* of it from StarWars. Exept his whole plot is StarWars.
KayJay posts on 9/18/2009 4:00:54 PM Look, even if CP has taken ideas from other books, what fictional author hasn't? He came up with the story and wrote it himself. How many here have actually taken the time to try to publish a book?
DragonRising posts on 9/18/2009 1:11:44 AM sorry, my email is randalthor_3@hotmail.com Please email me there. I think Paolini could have a future in writing if he worked harder and took some writing classes. He has some ideas, but he still needs more originality.
KayJay posts on 8/27/2009 4:15:30 PM I have read many books that are similar to what CP's are about and they are nothing compare with his. He does have his own flair and originality. He even placed settings that are similar to where he grew up! My opinion is that CP is one of the best authors today
DragonRising posts on 8/19/2009 4:18:53 AM i partially agree with you. i think that many books should never have been published. for instance, sword bird, it was written by a 12 year old, but it shows, she lacks emotion and creativity in her writing and it look immature. cp faces a similar problem with his many purple prose and grammatical errors along with numerous other writing faults that cannot be excused by his age. cp is not the first one, nor will he be the last to “borrow” ideas from someone else. i have a problem with the fact that cp doesn’t even bother trying half the time to try and morph the other ideas into his own, he just puts it there and hopes that nothing bad happens. I agree that many plots start and end the same, but the middle is usually where the author tries to ad his/her own flair. cp’s plot line fits up almost exactly with sw, I wouldn’t mind if there were a few similarities here and there, but throughout the series I can match up nearly every turning point with one in sw. if you would like to further this conversation, please contact me at randalthor3@hotmail.com . thank you for reading this.
Bladesinger posts on 7/25/2009 12:30:17 PM Of the defence of CP copying other fantasy authors: Would you guys stop comparing CP to other authors? Usually, names that are almost identical are ACCIDENTS! Plus, almost every fantasy book has the same plot: A hero gets chosen from no where to defeat an eevil and dark force. Weapons and modes of transportation may very on what era the book is written in, but think about it. Can you name one fantasy book that doesn't have a hero chosen from nowhere to defeat a dark force? Tons of other books have dragons, elves or dwarves. Actually, I would guess abput 90% of all fantasy books have at least one of them. Give up on blaming CP for copying!!!
