I agree with LOTRfan. Try comparing The Inheritance Series with Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, Star Wars etc. I could go on forever. What happens after you do that? How many similar things can you find? After how many of these ideas does it cease to be an original work and become something sloppy, immature, and plagiarized?

CP takes so much from lord of the rings, im suprised he hasnt been sued! The elves in their forests, the dwarves in their mountains, an immortal overlord?? come on. And names to. The beor mountains. in LOTR, beorning mountains. OOH big difference. The gray heath, exactly the same. I could just scream. It is so annyoing. its like he took LOTR and added dragons, magic and bad writing.

CP is a great author and is an amazing contribution to the fantasy genre. I love the characters of Arya and Saphira, especially when Saphira gets drunk. CP U ROCK!!!!

i agree with lady. i think CP needs more ORIGINAL ideas. his ideas have all ben used before. i don't mind it if an auther uses a few references here and there, it's just that he uses so many ideas from other authers. i also think his writing is inconsistent, he will be describing a table in great detail and then he dosen't elaborate nearly as much when describing for instance the green sword. i say that if you're going to make up a whole new world along with its own creatures, it should be more unique. It's not only his creatures though, it's the plot too, I've seen it before in another series. I will admit that his most recent book, Brisinger was much better than the others, but still not very good in my opinion.

Why is everyone so critical to this extremely talented author?! How about you try to write something so amazing at such a young age! He is insperational and when I let my eyes wander the pages he wrote for the world, I am no longer in this horribly modern world where our own inventions are slowly killing us and allowing us to become more corrupt each second. In a way, everyone on this planet has become like Galbatorix. Humans care only for themsleves. So lay off. Once one person thinks of an idea, that doesnt no one else is allowed to use it! And you know, i dont care where he got his deas because these books make me feel safe and they take me to a place where i dont have to face reality. No mater how short of a time it is. I love it. I know that I am not the only one who feels this way.

So, not to stomp on everybody's parade or anything, but let's take a step back and consider Paolini from a literary standpoint. Not a whole lot there. Paolini is a master at two things-- long-windedness and combining everybody ELSE's ideas and making money by calling them his OWN. crazy.

I've read many SciFiFantasy series through my years. I find that they all take me away from my life on great trips. Some better written than others, but none the less, better than I could have written. Anyone out there know or suspect when CPs final book is to be released? Thanks

i might be 13 but i've read quiet a few fantasy novels. I think that CP's books need to find a solid begining and an original plot. Helen, how can you say you're a fantasy reader when you can't see the obvious plot takes from Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time and various other series/books published in this genre? I'm sure I haven't read nearly as many books as some of you who post here, but how come none of you can see the obvious plots from other series? Personaly I thought Brisinger helped CP because it wasn't all other people's ideas though it was litered with numerous inconsistancys. I remember one paragraph where he grately elaborates a simple desk and the things upon it, he then goes on and describes the green sword with carelesness and little imagination. I also belive that CP was not given his book deal because of his writing abilaties, but because his parents were able to pull a lot of strings. Can you see where I'm coming from now?

hey! come on about the story dragging along, it revealed Brom being his father, and his new sword. It revealed of lot of new stuff. But hey if you don't like it hey its a free country and you can complain. But hey if you don't like it don't read it instead of complaining about it.
