David and Leigh Eddings Message Board

Felin posts on 4/10/2007 11:03:22 AM I agree the Dreamers series wasn't up to par, but it's because David's slowing down. He's what, 80 this year? It happens to all of us eventually. On another note, I give David my condolances for the loss of his beloved wife Leigh, who passed away at the end of Feburary after a series of strokes :(
Ken posts on 3/28/2007 8:43:54 PM Linda. Your impressions are not wrong. The Dreamer Series is the most annoying series foisted on Eddings fans. It is bad. Do not buy any more books in the series. Find them in the local library and apart from reading the first book(which is drivel but at least it is new drivel) the rest of the series has about 10-20 pages worth reading. Book four is another book full of repeating scenarios and very thin plot. I don't believe this series was written at all by David Eddings and Leigh Eddings just doesn't have it. The publishers should hang their heads in shame. They knowingly published this drivel in four parts to make a buck.
Anonymous posts on 10/26/2006 6:16:26 PM I personally think The Dreamers series is quite good. There are some similarities within the characters, but the plotline is different from his other books. There are a few lines that pop up every so often, but that's what makes it Eddings.

posts on 10/14/2006 6:26:14 AM There are many, but some which easily come to mind are Beldin when he describes his first attempt to fly, the description of his "bird" self, and also Belgarath's reasoning when he becomes a wolf rather than remain an eagle.
Linda posts on 10/26/2005 9:02:00 PM I have read ALL of David's and David and Leigh Eddings books and have thoroughly enjoyed all, in fact I would say that the Edding's would have to be one of my favoured authors. Then I started to read The Elder God series. I must say I am extremely disappointed, I am now reading the last book and am finding it a real struggle! The storyline is poor, the humour is corny and the characters have no depth. I hate to put a book down, especially if its part of a series, but I am really battling to continue to read. What is going on David and Leigh?? I doubt whether I'll give the fourth book (yet to be released) a try. My opinion for what its worth.... What do others think, am I missing the whole point of the book or something? Linda
