David Eddings Message Board

Psodos posts on 10/24/2005 12:55:44 PM The Eddings' have really lost it this time! I thought the Redemption of Althalus was poor compared to the earlier series (same plot line, same old one-dimensional characters, endless repetition of floksee catch phrases), but the new series gets close to unreadable! The folksee dialog is so overworked it really begins to grate and how many times can they repeat the same story? In The Treasured One we get multiple repetitions from various characters point of view - like rolling Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara The Sorceress into the original books as endless extra chapters. I think its time the Eddings gave it a rest!
Jack posts on 10/14/2005 10:47:53 PM Steve Buchemi is a rat-like funny looking guy. He could do it.
BerryGirl posts on 10/14/2005 2:40:15 PM I think Angelina Jolie could possibly be a better Polgara than Zeta-Jones. Jolie has that edge that Polgara definitely has! I always thought Dustin Hoffmann was Silk - he's the right height and also quite rodent-like. Not sure if he's a bit too old though.. Someone suggested Brian Blessed for Barak - which sounds like a great idea!

thevelvetunderground posts on 9/27/2005 2:01:36 PM nah not a patch on Eddings, read the riftwar series a while back and since haven't bothered to read anymore feist books. it was kinda flat in its storytelling. liked the dark elf guy tho:) also a gemmell fan and trying the assassin series by hobb.

Dave posts on 6/21/2005 10:50:51 PM Peoples! If you enjoyed the Belgariad you SHOULD really read Magician by Raymond E Feist. He is the TRUE master in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, The Belgariad was good but the Riftwar Saga is great!
lauren posts on 6/12/2005 1:24:05 AM the belgariad totally rocks! i first read the series when i was 9. i am now 11 and have read them about 9or10 times wich isnt very much but i've had tons of homework and other stuff.the mallorean isn't as good &i only found out they existed a while ago.the're not as good as the belgariad but i still like them. i would love to see both series put in to movies.
Phil Reed posts on 6/4/2005 6:08:17 PM I followed the accepted 2 envelope method of writing a note of appreciation to the Eddings gor their work, but the outer envelope was returned: Return to sender No such Number Unable to forward. I used the DEL REY BOOKS Address at 201 E 50th ST. I googled the address and it seems valid. Any thoughts? Thanks, Phil
Luna Magic posts on 5/26/2005 12:02:06 AM If they made a movie, I'd like to see: Silk - John Leguizamo Zakath - Arnold Vosloo (from 'The Mummy') Beldin - Sean Connery Mandorallen - Brad Pitt Barak - John Rhys-Davies Yarblek - Johnny Depp
