David Pelzer Message Board

Felicia posts on 9/9/2011 5:59:44 PM I was told about this book by my therapist, who says your experience was very similar to mine in the way your siblings continued the abuse. I haven't read them yet, but am looking forward to it. After all these years, the abuse continues every time I make the mistake of thinking they could have changed and let them back into my life. I need to learn to stop doing that, they will never change. Thank you in advance, I'm hoping it will give me closure and the ability to accept that some people are just evil and I am not obligated to allow them in my life, even if I forgive them.
Lola Josey posts on 2/11/2011 9:29:15 PM These books are must reads for anyone working with at risk children. Alsoimpressive how well he speaks for the system, which so many criticize. I am looking forward to reading the last of the trilogy "A Man called Dave".
Star posts on 7/16/2010 4:25:08 PM I could not imagine having to endure all that you had to in your childhood. You are truly an exceptional and wonderful person, and to forgive your mother the way you did in the end...was just amazing. I'm not sure I could have done the same. May God continue to bless you and your family...my thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Aaleah Brown posts on 10/14/2009 7:44:32 PM I personally think that this book was amazing! I had a great message and was very sad. It made you feel concerned and worried for Dave. Its so amazing what he overcomes though. I think anyone could really read this book except for kids 5-10. But it is a great book
Susan posts on 6/9/2009 8:45:39 AM I first heard about your heartbreaking childhood on Oprah Winfrey, my daughter then bought me the book as a present. As I read the book it pulled at my heart, made me weap and stayed with me to this day. I couldn't beleive a mother could do the things you endured, the happy chidhood you lost and the mothers love you should have received from the day you were born. Im so sorry that things were not very different for you, but you have become a very strong person and you should be very proud of yourself. My children are my life and although grown up now 22 and 19 there's nothing I wouldn't do for them. Recently we have found our son has 2 life threatening conditions and a pituitary tumor, if given a choice I would happily take this from him and suffer myself but I cant. I always thought everyone loved their children and would never harm them so you have opeded my eyes. Love to you and a big thankyou for sharing your story with me through your books. God bless!

Lisa posts on 12/30/2008 8:47:36 PM David's books are so good I could not put them down. I thank him for sharing his life story with the world. A truely amazing and courageous survivor. I cannot understnad how a person such as David's mother could be so cruel and evil making the choice she did in abusing David is inexcusable and disgusting. David you are a true champion, and a brillant man. Thank You.
