Ian Bl posts on 6/25/2013 4:56:21 AM This world is a much poorer place now - but maybe theres a wonderful welcome for such a great guy elsewhere.
Jenny posts on 6/24/2013 7:21:04 PM My very deepest condolences to Annie, Aileen, and family. As so many have said, Deric was loved by us all, and brought us pleasure and laughter beyond measure. Thank you for being so thoughtful as to post on here amidst your grief, Annie. May the love of all on here be some tiny comfort to you, and testament to the wonderful man that Deric was. We are so privileged to have 'known' him through his writing.
heather dunn posts on 6/24/2013 7:17:49 PM so sorry to hear of Derics passing. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, he was lovely. My thoughts go out to his family- God bless.

claire martin posts on 6/24/2013 6:44:11 PM What a nice way to put it Chris , I'm sure Arthur and all Derics other furry friends were waiting patiently by the rainbow bridge and its lovely to think of them all together again. His books have helped me through hard times too, I'm not sure her even knew what a profound effect he had on many of us.....xxx
Julie A posts on 6/24/2013 6:20:39 PM Having posted a few messages on this Board in the past & made a very dear friend through it, I am so sorry to hear the sad news. It was lovely to chat to like minded people with the odd adage every so often from the lovely Deric himself. I was lucky enough to chat to him once, and he was so much fun, its like losing a close friend. I would like very much to pass on my sincere condolencies to all the family, my thought sre with you all. God bless Deric, you will be sadly missed xxx
Yvonne Welsh posts on 6/24/2013 2:25:15 PM Thank you for letting us all know the awful news, Annie. I hope Deric had a peaceful passing. He meant so much to us all here. My condolances to all the family, especially Aileen. I didn't even know Deric personally but I shall miss him dreadfully. Is there an address I can send flowers or should I donate money to a charity Deric loved or supported? I'd like to do something in his memory. x x
Tiff posts on 6/24/2013 10:25:40 AM Thank you so much for letting us know, what a sad time for everyone, I'm sure we will all miss him terribly and what a contribution he has made, he goes down in history as a very great man and I hope he is happy wherever he is now. Much love to everyone xx
Diana posts on 6/24/2013 8:41:31 AM This was expected - but what a shock! I think I was the first to see Annie's message [thank you], but was too saddened to post anything then. Losing Deric is like losing a close friend. Already I miss him, just from knowing him through his writing. Therefore, how much more must the Longden family be grieving. My love and prayers go out to you all, especially Aileen. Diana, Southampton xx
Conny posts on 6/24/2013 8:32:44 AM Dear Annie, thank you so much for taking the time to let us know this news we all knew would come sooner or later. Yes, I also feel like I've lost a friend, a dear fatherly friend who helped me tremendously to slowly abandon my cynical points of view and to look at cats and humans more lovingly. Dear Aileen and family, my prayers are with you. Love from Germany, Conny
