such sad news,my thoughts are with Aileen and all the family, but Deric will live on through his books for ever and when he goes up there he will entertain them with his great humour and wit, we have lost a wonderful kind loving person RIP audrey

Dear Annie and family, my thoughts are with you at this terrible time of grief. Losing Deric is like losing a dearly beloved family member, for through his books your family integrated with ours. We all loved him, not only for his humour but also as a wonderful, sympathetic human being. He was one in a million and will be dreadfully missed by us all. Deric is at peace and as someone previously wrote, he will have a special place in heaven. My love goes out to you all, Bless you love Susan

What a shock, but now our dearest Deric can't suffer any more. Thank you for letting us know in the midst of your grief, Annie. Please tell Aileen that she will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

My very deepest sympathies to the whole family. I first read Deric's books many years ago and I was a great admirer. He was one person I would really love to have met. Apart from our shared love of animals, Deric was a wonderful human being, someone I have long held in my heart. Sorry if this isn't coming out very well. It's so hard to know what to say in the face of such a great loss. God bless you Deric. I know he has a special place reserved for you.

I am so sorry to hear this. Please note that Deric had fans the world over (I'm from New York) and not many
writers can say that. Deric's stories brought me many good times and I will always think of him.

Sorry to have to tell you that Deric passed away this morning after a brave battle with throat cancer. We are here with Mum now and the family is in deep shock and rallying around. Deric's words will forever live on in his wonderful books and his love of life and laughter has blessed us all.
Thank you for your loyalty and superb support which has always given Deric so much pleasure.

Thank you Annie for letting us all know this terribly sad news. We do hope that it is some consolation to you to know how much Deric was loved by so many and will continue to do so. He gave us all a wonderful gift in his books and musings and we will continue to laugh and cry as we read them again and again. Thanks also for making that easier with Deric's website and Kindle books.
Our thoughts and wishes go to Aileen, all Deric's and Aileen's children including yourself and grandchildren

Dear Annie. I am sure I speak on behalf of us all here and also fans of Deric the world over, I offer my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
What a pleasure it has been and will always be to read the wonderful writing that only Deric Longden could write so well. He will be so dearly missed.

Oh Annie, this is the news that I think we've all been dreading but thank you so much for posting it at what must be such a sad time for you all. I am very, very sorry to hear that Deric has passed away and send lots of love to you all. He will always remain in my heart for as long as I draw breath. XXXX
