Just thought I would drop by to say hello to everyone. Some time ago I asked Deric for his autograph to add to my collection and he sent me a postcard which I had framed with a picture of him and Thermal. Each time I look at it I can't believe he's no longer here. I never met him personally but I miss him enormously.

I don't know how many of my friends from this board still check in here, but with Christmas only two days away, I thought I'd wish you and Deric's family a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year. I'm sending a hug up to you in Heaven dear Mr. Longden, and hope you'll give some kisses from me to Thermal, Arthur, and all the other kitties up there. Love, Jan

I am currently recording all of Dereks books on to a small recorder for a 79 year old lady friend who has been blind for 20 years and was devastated this week while checking on line to see if I actually had all of them, to come across the news of his death. I have read and reread all of his books again and again, and passed them around to all my friends.
The man was a true genius!!My condolences to all his family [ I feel as if i know you all]

Sorry to hear that Deric had died - I was sad to read that he had cancer but was not aware that he had died in June - I met him many years ago when he gave a talk at The Grosvenor Museum in Chester -he was a lovely man and will be sorely missed I am sure - my heart goes out to the family...
