Hi everyone, I've just logged on here , first time in ages, and found the news I've been dreading. My heart goes out to Aileen, Annie and all the Longden family. Your loss is so much greater than ours but I like to think that, through Deric's wonderful writing, we are all 'family'. I hope you don't mind. Only last week I recommended one of Deric's books to a customer (I work in a library)which she loved and has gone on to read the rest.So Deric lives on in the heart of another fan. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Kay. xx

Diana, have just found what you wrote (translated of course). Beautifully written. Deric wasn't a vain man and I do believe that he really never knew just what an impact he made on all our lives. Even if you are not a cat person, you cannot fail to love his books. They aren't only cat stories, they are stories of people and life, of a wonderful way to look upon life with all it throws at us. I will always hold Deric fondly in my memories. Sadly , it hurts to wonder how he family is going to cope not having him personally there. He may have left many wonderful memories, but sadly also a great big hole that can never be filled. My thoughts go out to them, always.

Gracie, Diana! Isn't it a wonderful thing how Deric has us all connected, no matter which country we are from? Love to all - and especially to Aileen and Annie, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Love from Germany, Conny

Love and prayers to Deric's family from me and my magnificent 7 (moggies). What a wonderful gift that man had for making people laugh and to unite us in our love of animals.

I am the editorial director of Paco Editore. In Italy we published two beautiful books of Deric Longden: The Cat Who Came in from the Cold and Enough to Make a Cat Laugh, who liked them so much to the readers.
I'm so sorry for his death.
On my site I wrote a reminder of Deric.

I haven't been able to get into the link, my internet security blocks it due to a Trojan virus. ??? Hope everyone is enjoying our very hot English July. For those that live elsewhere, hope your having some nice weather too. Here it is so warm that we have had the air cooler on all day, only way us and the cat could bear it. Best wishes to you all, Susan xx

Good evening, this is Yorkshire Cat Rescue. We have been directed to this forum by one of the contributors and another person has referred to it asking about donations in memory of Deric. His family asked us to create a memorium page. We cannot post the address on here, but please search online for Charity Giving then type Deric's name in the "Find a Friend" box, and it should take you to the page.
We would like to express our continued thanks to Deric's family for their kindness to us at this sad time, and our sympathies to them at their loss. We will all miss Deric's humour and lovely stories which will live on for many years.

Thank you Annie and Jocelyn for your updates. I have just donated to Yorks Cat Rescue and messaged them to let them know why. I'm glad the funeral went well and hope the family is doing ok in this hard time. x x x

Yes, it's Tigger in the photo i sent to the Telegraph. The caption should be "hands off,he's mine!" She lived until she was 18, spoilt rotten and gorgeous. The obit was lovely and yesterday's service a happy/sad occasion. His Emmy was on the coffin and we played his CD with him telling the Brussell sprout/sprite story. Nice to have him join in and hear his voice. Forget me nots and sunflowers and Yorks cat rescue or Cancer Research UK for donations.
Thank you all for your kind words and Susan A for the card you sent Mum on behalf of you all. Much appreciated. Annie xx
