DentFAn posts on 3/2/2010 3:10:16 PM I believe my favorite part of the Ultimate Hitchiker's Guide to the Universe would be Agrajag and his Hate Arthur Dent Hall. I do not think anything in any of the books.. besides perhaps the creator with his pencil.. can match the humor that surrounds reincarnation and Dent's ability to severely monopolize and ruin one life. Dent just has that one life that seems to cause untold amount of havoc and yet survive. I love it.
Kate posts on 10/22/2006 12:39:51 AM If you'll remember in the book they talked about having screwed up the answer to the Ultimate Question, that's the reason that it's six times nine.

posts on 8/10/2006 7:45:15 PM I recently finished The Restaurant at the End of the Universe and I have this question. The books ending was extremely disappointing to me not only because i didn't know what was really going on, but also because one thing just didnt add up.This whole journey is to find the question to the answer of life, the universe, and everything. Now, the answer is known to be 42, and throughtout the book there were references to the question being "What is 6 times 7?". This was mostly as a joke to the characters in the book.At the end of this book, when Arthur and Ford do that crazy thing where Arthur picks the scrabble words out of a hat, the question that comes out is, "What do you get when you mulitply 6 times 9?" 6 times nine is 54! Not 42! Is this just a joke to the reader and all characters in the book or is this a misprint? I didnt pick up any hints that said they werent serious about that being the question. Maybe something just went way over my head and i just didnt pick it up, or this needs some explaination. Please just respond to this message. I feel like I cant start the 3rd book until i get this cleared up. Thanks
posts on 7/28/2006 2:02:54 PM Thanks okta! I didn't know there was a Towel Day. I've just been introduced to this lovely book series.
posts on 7/28/2006 11:03:46 AM hello, fello hitchhikers! did you remember to celebrate Towel-Day this year? If you didn't, be sure to carry your towel on may 25th next year!
posts on 5/13/2006 6:48:08 PM I really enjoy Douglas Adams's works. I've just started reading his books. I'm on "Life, the Universe, and Everything." I didn't really like the movie though...
Kate posts on 2/10/2006 12:43:09 AM The thing most I'm going to miss about DNA being gone is that we'll not be getting more material from him. He was possibly the most hilarious man on the face of the planet, or indeed, the galaxy. And I'll never get to meet him. :(
Jo-Anne posts on 12/5/2005 9:13:19 AM This is a blatant plug for a picture of Douglad Adams that's just been posted for sale on e-bay, taken by well known photographer Derek Ridgers. Worth checking out for anyone who is a fan of his!
Cheneyism posts on 8/3/2005 12:04:05 PM i love both futurama and hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and consider them to be the best series in their respective medias EVER. but that just my opinion, but besides that there is a blatant arthur dent/ philip fry reference (besides philip being arthur's middle name). In the very first episode of futurama fry swears he can fly the ship and the only thing he manages to do is make (duhn duhn duhn) a cup of tea. If thats not an arthur dent reference i dont know what is
