Ellen Hopkins Message Board

Becky posts on 6/26/2010 10:18:55 PM Ellen Hopkins, I'd just like to say what an inspiration the book impulse was. I tried to kill myself in march, all while I was reading your books. When I went into the mental hospital my mother bought me the book impulse. While I was in the hospital I started and finished the book. Your book, saved my life. Seeing how you wrote that book, and how, even if they were just characters, other people delt with the feeling of uselessness and worthlessness, helps me still. I carry your book with me everywhere, just to remind me of how far I've come since the day that I opened that book. So, thank you for having the balls to do what others were afraid to do. Thank you for telling the truth, and not sugar coating it.
Samantha posts on 6/3/2010 9:50:47 PM I think you should write a book on girls with eating disorders. That's been my life for years until I gave birth to my daughter. I love your books and you inspire me everyday! Thank you

Michelle posts on 2/27/2010 8:01:44 PM I absolutely love all of Ellen Hopkins novels. I am only a fourteen year old, but have read Crank, Glass, Impulse, Burned, Identical, and Tricks in that order. Yes, they sad and heart wrenching, but when you have been through things, including me, it helps show that your not the only one. I can;t even begin to explain how Ellen Hopkins has helped me. You are an amazing writer, and you most definately deserve all the honor you recieve. Please, don't stop writing; You have no idea how many lost souls you help with your novels of completely-true poems. I love you!
christina Ragone posts on 2/8/2010 6:49:49 PM Actually, at the end of Burned, Pattyn does not kill herself. It's left as an open ending. If you go to Ellen Hopkins' website, she clearly states that Pattyn would not kill herself and that she wants revenge.
RACHEL posts on 2/2/2010 3:29:49 PM I absolutely LOVE your books! They facinate me more than any other books. Someday I hope that they become movies. Keep up your great work.:)
Michelle posts on 1/18/2010 4:35:32 PM I have just read the entire message board to try and get an idea of everybody else's opinion on the books. I have read Impulse, Crank, Burned, Glass, Identical, Flirtin' with the Monster, and am currently reading Tricks.Ellen, your books are phenomenal and I look forward to continuing reading your stories. I'm glad that not only are you earning money writing, but you truly enjoy writing (as much as I enjoy reading them). Is there any chance of you getting to Miami, Florida?? Maybe for a new release of Fallout or Perfect? Let me know. You're the best! I love you :)
