Margaret posts on 1/22/2007 9:53:38 PM Dear Mr. Colfer, For a long time rumors have been circulating about an upcoming Artemis Fowl movie. Though met with abject horror by me and my friends, these rumors were mostly revealed to be unfounded, until now. More and more websites of greater legitimacy have been making definite statements about plans for a film. I have always loved the Artemis Fowl books beyond any other series for their originality, for their writing style, and above all for the spirit of the characters, which are conveyed with a playful wit and humor that could never be captured by a lesser author...never mind a film. And this brings me to my point: I beg you, from the bottom of my heart, not to go forward with making the Artemis Fowl films. What actor could ever covey Holly's wild yet noble spirit, Root's lovable and explosive temper, Foaly's completely indescribable and uncapturable nature? What director could paint with pictures what can only be described with words? What screenplay would capture the essence of the dialogue without canning it's vital eccentricity? Now, we die-hard Artemis Fowl fans can - and probably will - vow never to see the film. Unfortunately, things are less simple today. Unless you are a hermit, or live in a mineshaft, there is no way to avoid a film completely. After all, you can hardly cover your ears and screw your eyes shut whenever the trailer appears. People who were against the Harry Potter movies will understand. On a plane, on TV, at a friend's house, somehow they all came across it. And now whenever they read Potter, the picture of Daniel Radcliff is stuck permanently in their head. But comitting Harry Potter to the silver screen is not the same kind of sacrilige as killing the liveliest and freshest of adventure stories on the market. Mr. Colfer, I really love movies. I even have nothing against Winona Rider. But I don't want to see her face whenever I read about Holly Short. Then the book will be dead forever. I doubt one message will sway you. I doubt this message will even reach you. But I know there are readers out there who believe, as I believe, that this film should not be made. Please, do not allow it to happen.
Kenneth weil posts on 1/2/2007 5:22:48 PM I was Amazed on how I couldn't take my eyes off the book! Like others I would enjoy to see another Artemis book on the shelf. Your imagination is so genuine. I coudn't think of anything close to as good as the artemis series. Infact I have been trying to conjur up a story that can at least be challenged to yours. The ending of The Lost Colony was pretty clever to keep the readers thriving for more. I couldn't help but being quite surprized when he entered the code into the keypad to enter butler's hut. It was his birthday you wrote... Zero 1, Zero 9. It's extrodinary that the famous artemis fowl's birth date is the same except for maybe the year which still would be very close. Just think of the possibility. Any how, I was hoping that you would have a fan letter mailing adress that i could write to. This is what I found and some how I kind of doubt you even know this web place exists. If you do I'm glad you got my comment. Kenneth weil, Albuquerque, NM, USA

sofian ali posts on 12/19/2006 4:50:21 AM i've just read the lost colony and i think that it is great. i just want to know if there is going to be another book coming out or not. please could you tell me.
Hayley Walton posts on 12/18/2006 7:11:41 PM Eoin~ i have just finished the AMAZING lost colony book in the artemis fowl series. I was kinda sad/disappointed of the ending where he lost 3 years of his life and we were left hanging when he was just told he had new twin siblings. I was shocked to see that it didnt continue to where Minerva and him could have had a relationship. but, Minerva is older than him now.... i was just wondering if in one of the next stories, the plot be butler retires, but then the new guy that is hired is part of a group or something that wants Artemis killed, then he turns on Artemis and butler has to save him, and then, artemis discovers a 'fountain of youth' thing to make butler younger so he can continue to be his body guard. Probably my favorite part of the lost colony book is when he starts to like Minerva in times of stress. the puberty thing. i liked how you showed that a genius kid can still be normal.... please continue that. i am also sad that julius root died in opal deception. after he died, i realized what a lovable charecter he was. I also like how clever artemis was when he knocked out Abbot after he 'killed' Holly. that was VERY clever! Holly is also one of my very favorite charecters! i also hope minerva continues to appear in future books. i hope this series continues and hopefully becomes a book. Yours truely, Hayley W. ps- please write me back! you have inspired me in writting and i would like a few tips...
Rachel posts on 12/17/2006 4:00:12 PM Hey Mitch... the whole twins thing meant that he had twin brother( or sisters... it doesnt specify) it just says hes a big brother now after being gone for three years
