T Bone posts on 5/10/2005 12:53:08 PM okay i see alot of posts on here regarding jon being rhaegars son, but i can't for the life of me remember reading anything about it. could someone tell me where the root of this speculation lies.
ice and fire junky posts on 5/6/2005 10:35:23 AM okay so my husband and i are very into the series and are chomping at the bit for Feast like everyone else. and while i have to agree that no update on the website since jan. is very nerve racking -martin is a literary genious in my opinion and sometimes genious takes a little longer than we would like. i started the whole series over again -gotta keep the story fresh in mind :) and i have a theory to put out there ... the wights and others are different but quite similiar, they are the "evil" thing that will make for some interesting alliances, jon is of course going to become a bigger player than any of us realize, Dany will too. i think she'll come back to westeros to help with the situation that's coming however she won't stay. i think since she so against slavery and the injustice where she's at that she come back to help but ultimatley go back east and rule there. arya (who's my favorite) ...well i can't say what arya will do but it gonna be BIG! sansa too, i hope. although it's interesting piont about her lack of wolf. then again this is martin we're discussing here so really whose to say???

Abou posts on 4/23/2005 11:51:48 PM How long has it been since the last book? 4 or 5 years? If I can go to medical school in 4 years, why can't he write ONE damn book? I still say he should stop touring till it's done. Screw that "I have a life, you should get one too, " line he posted on his website before. I have a JOB and a life. Maybe he needs to focus more on his job, not his life.
Rask posts on 4/14/2005 12:37:28 AM There's a new sample up on GRRM's website - it's a chapter about Cersei. God she can be annoying.
Anonymous posts on 3/31/2005 7:51:47 PM I think we know that howland reed has all of the answers. He was the only one who is still alive from when ned and his group of bannermen fought aurther dayne and the rest of the kings guard and then found lyanna before she died. It seems strange that (3 or 4 can't remember) king's guards would be watching just lyanna in dorne, while rhaegar was on the trident, unless they were protecting his son. It would have made more sense for them to have kept their vows and fled with visery's to the free cities, he would have been their king if rhaegar had no heir. When ned remembers this, he recalls aurther dayne saying that they knew that Visery's and his mother had fled with ser Darry. Strangest part to all of this is that Ned and his northmen fought the remainder of the king's guard in the first place. it might be possible that lyanna's death happened because of this altercation and not because of child birth. Regardless, jon is still a bastard, he has no claims on the crown, unless Rhaegar and lyanna were secrectly married. alot of questions here that we probably won't find out until book five at the earliest. damn martin put down your toy knights and finish the book.
Myntzi posts on 3/31/2005 12:09:39 PM Glad to see so many people agree that at least it's possible that Jon's the get of Rhaegar and Lyanna. I've got to say that I'm intrigued by the idea that Howland Reed might have the answer to Jon's parentage. And I suppose my leap to conclude that it was rape on Rhaegar's part was premature. It could very well have been consentual on Lyanna's part. Much to think about. (HURRY UP GRRM!)
Thomas Danielson posts on 3/29/2005 5:17:49 PM Everyone has their puzzle pieces for the how and why Jon is Rhaegar's son, but the one that stands out to me the most is... Dany can't have anymore children. Jon is the only way for the Taergaryns line to continue. You know how GRRM is about his seven kingdom's family histories. Plus after everything dany went through, would she give credit to Jon's parentry and hand him the throne she fought so hard for, or would she kill him right out? I think she would.. but she can't, or her line ends. To me, it would all fit. And maybe Robert knew it wasn't rape, maybe it was just jelousy. And the king being insane was a perfect excuse for him to kill rhaegar.
Complete Loss posts on 3/29/2005 11:38:34 AM First of all, sorry, but my english is terrible. I really don't believe that Rhaegar raped Lyanna; I do believe they where lovers. Do you remember the scene where the two frog kids explain Bran the tale/history about the joust in the -how was it?- "false summer year"? They said that the "wolf maiden" -that should be Lyanna- danced with the prince, and eated each other with the eyes, or so I understood. This seemed more a seduction, than a rape case. I really want to know WHAT happened in that tourney, I'm sure there are LOTS of clues!!
NavyRob posts on 3/23/2005 4:25:51 PM Jon = the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Taegaryn. THat is the secret Lyanna asked Ned to keep on her death bed!
