Dr Zooey posts on 6/3/2008 12:23:56 PM This is a poignant and wonderfully written book about Southern life, growing wise beyond your years and basking in the safety of a firm, loving household. It does not contain gratituous violence, ugly words or preposterous plots. I have read this book many, many times over the years and still think it strikes my heart as beautifully as when I first encounteed it in my youth.

Kathryn posts on 10/19/2006 3:16:52 AM I think i liked the book better then the movie. LOL you should have seen me i was critizing the whole thing through. They cut a whole bunch of stuff out. Like, for instance, in the movie scout and jem come accross the tree and jem pulls out the two soap dolls. But in the book, Scout goes to the tree FIRST and takes the gum and jem tells her to get rid of it. THEN they find the dolls. In the book, dont they find the other artifacts together?. Another thing they cut was when ms. Maudie's house caught on fire, and when winter came and scout said, "The worlds coming to an end!". And they changed the relationship between scout and dill, in the movie she's not his perminent fiance. And in the movie, Jem doesn't go through the changes he does through the book. AND! he doesn't go to mrs. Dubose's house to read for month. Another thing they cut was when they go to Calpurnia's Church, and how scout leanrs a few important things. But still, i loved the little actress that played scout. She was funny! she matched the one in the book perfectly.
posts on 8/20/2006 11:05:41 AM The actress who played Scout(Mary Badham) stayed friends with Gregory Peck and always called him Atticus in real life. Her real life brother was director John Badham(Blue Thunder, Stakeout, Dracula, etc....)Just some fun film facts-:)
posts on 8/20/2006 1:13:02 AM No question. The movie is right up there with the book.
posts on 8/19/2006 6:26:35 PM well if you loved the book, then you will definitely love the movie as well. it follows the book, and like someone said great actors and directors, so you should definitely watch it.
