Okay, I do agree with your opinion about not romanticizing things, and I asked Holly herself anonymously via LiveJournal. She said that was pretty much the point. It just seemed like an odd way to wrap up the series. It seems like there needs to be something else...
BTW, I now have a fanfiction account (AKA Harey) and have some Tithe things on there if anyone wants to check that out...

Just read Ironside... I agree, Ethine's not the character I thought she was. Roiben is too good at his promise of being emotionally frozen, and... honestly, I can't find much else wrong with it! It's a fantastic book, better than Valiant, in my opinion, and if you haven't read it don't listen to over-paid critics, just listen to other readers - it's worth it.
Corny takes a huge turn for the better, in my opinion - he's a lot less of a dork.

I made a mistake, go to amazon usa instead to read the chapetr excerpt of ironside. I haven't read it yet, I,m going to read it after my exams finish. I don't like what I'm hearing about the new book.

I have a feeling that the relationship was supposed to be a little shaky-it wasnt supposed to have a "they ride into the sunlight.....the end" ending.They had to get over the glamour of the relationship. He may be some hot sexy sidhe knight but thats a first (overly romantic)impression. He has seen and delt with horror and as much and people enjoy romantising it it hurts the guy. I guess that why i enjoyed how his character evolved in this one -cuz you get to see behind the facade. If you mean he went out of character well i didnt seem that way to me.

Ironside is OUT EARLY! It's quite funny. I have a list of about 20 things that made me laugh out loud. It was also quite good, but the ending seemed sort of shaky, and it lacked Tithe's gritty charm. Roiben also seemed quite different. I definitely prefer him in Tithe. The relationships in Ironside are all over the place, and I've decided that I don't really like Ethine much. At the end, it felt like Kaye and Roiben still didn't completely trust each other, and that everything was up in the air. And I have the feeling that Roiben won't do very well ruling both courts when he was having enough difficulty ruling one...Anyone else share similar thoughts?
