Isobelle Carmody Message Board

posts on 7/26/2006 3:02:09 PM I started Obernewtyn in high school and then gave up when the fifth book never came out. Now I am living in the states and its proved very very very difficult to get my hands on the books again - I still cant find The Keeping Place anywwhere! I can't beleive that no one here has even heard of Isobelle Carmody!!
posts on 7/25/2006 6:27:39 AM Just to take minds off release dates how about a little talk/specualtion. I am wanting oppinions on whether they think Elspeth and Rushton will stay together, whether Angel is the Destroyer or not and what part this Kassanda has to play in the storyline? Accepting all opinions, no criticism. :-)
posts on 7/25/2006 12:21:48 AM Ok. So, i started these books... in early 2005. Thankfully four of them were out. I was absolutely crushed when i heard the fifth one hadnt come out and felt even worse when i found that obernewtyn had been written in 1987. Some people have been waiting for this series end for 20 years now. That is insane. Just waiting two years is making me crazy, because i am just so into these books and i love Espelth and Rushton. I cannot keep waiting. I am making myself (and everyone around me) nuts.

posts on 7/23/2006 6:12:16 AM well Nina, you must be shocked because she did write it when she was 14. luck you to have just found these books now. i have been reading them for almost twenty years and have been waiting for the ending for tooooo long. cheers
posts on 7/23/2006 3:51:37 AM If isabelle carmody wrote Obernewtyn when she was 14 i would be soo shocked.. it was soo good, i started reading the series about a week ago and cant put the books down, im in the middle of ashling and its great.. just wanted to show my praise and tell ne one else reading this to read these books now I found the first three when i was working at the local lifeline and rember my friend talking about it... so i got all three books for free :D teehee much love xoxoxo ( i cant find the fourth book which is really upsetting me)
posts on 7/21/2006 3:18:17 AM Finally I have found a place where the truth is revealed my local book store is just about fed up with me inquiring about the release dates of the sending and darkbane! I am amazed at our patience getting our hopes up and having them dashed again and again! I think we all deserve a grateful acknowledgment for our steadfast support of Isobelle.
posts on 7/17/2006 5:12:49 AM yer, well the whole dying thing is what my friend told me (she was seriosuly annoyed about that) but I found an interview with IC with her stating that the book is finished or almost finished or something like that, and it will be out march 2007 at the absolute latest. (she also said stuff like innle is pronounced in-lay, and stuff like that).
posts on 7/16/2006 10:15:16 PM Adna if you need a copy of the keeping place, mail me at debbins at hotmail... i have a spare copy I can send you. cheers
posts on 7/16/2006 10:07:24 PM dont worry adnamarine (sp?), my library is the same. they sometimes get the 2nd book nd not the 1st, tho. tht is worse, i feel!
posts on 7/9/2006 2:57:09 PM Man! My library has problems. There are about 5 series' I can think of where they only have maybe the first book, or the first two, in this case the first three. They don't have the 4'th one! It's so frustrating! You all might already have heard this, but she wrote Obernewtyn when she was 14! It was her first book. That is amazing to me, but the thing that is most amazing is that I keep hearing about so many authors who wrote their books when they were pretty young, like Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (Hawksong is wondrous!), and Christopher Paolini (even if his books aren't the greatest things in the world). And then there's my sister who wrote her first book at 14, though true, she doesn't like it anymore (I rather think it's perfectly good, though perhaps published for a younger audience). And within the next 3 years after, she's written 2 more books. Wait a second Katie, Isobelle Carmody thinks that if she finishes a series she'll die? WHAT? I got an Isobelle Carmody book out from the library a few days ago. It's called Night Gate, first in the Gateway Trilogy, which, AGAIN, I don't think my library has the rest of! It's horrible!
