James Lee Burke Message Board

Muriel posts on 4/17/2005 11:33:42 AM You're right Annie : there actually was a first, runaway wife! I guess I mixed her up with Dave's mother, another woman who left her husband. Hence my forgetting everything about her. Many thanks for the reply. Enjoy your further JLB readings!
annie posts on 4/11/2005 7:17:52 AM Muriel: Scroll down and you'll see Bob Daniels on the message board is researching the order of the wives. Annie was not the first. Curious, isn't it.
Muriel posts on 4/11/2005 4:26:25 AM Hello, In "Last Car to Elysean Firelds", Dave keeps saying (at least 3 times in the novel) his second wife was brutally murdered. But isn't Annie his first wife? Unless there's a wife coming before Annie of whom I've never heard , I think Annie was the first wife and Bootsie the second. Can anybody help me with this?

annie posts on 3/14/2005 11:29:11 AM So...Mr. Burke: I just finished "Red Ponies" and loved it. I can't quite connect the title though. Can you clear up a curiosity? What was the purpose of Greta's red bump?
annie posts on 3/8/2005 11:22:32 AM Hi again Bob. I can't exactly remember without reviewing; was Robich.'s daughter, was it "Alafair"(or something like that), was she "Annie's" daughter? Bootsie? Found at bottom of lake in a plane, right? No! Adopted, maybe? Also, Was Holland married before Temple. I get them all confused.
Bob Daniels posts supporting argument on 3/5/2005 10:52:23 PM Well, Annie, I've since reviewed and learned that Bootsie's maiden name was Mouton and that her first married name was Giacano. Annie's name was Ballard. I need to go 'way back and find the first wife's name. I'm closing in! I now own all the Robicheaux novels and am reading/re-reading them in order, some for the second, some for the third time (Sunset Limited, Jolie Blon). I've read Red Ponies. Great stuff. My next move is to collect all the Billy Bob Holland novels (which I think I already own, actually) and re-read them in order. Have fun. Bob D.
annie posts on 3/5/2005 8:24:38 PM Bob: your ques. was back in Jan. - Did you figure it out? You got me curious. I'd have to go back through the books. I'm reading Red Ponies now. Its great too.
Bob Daniels posts on 1/27/2005 8:21:44 PM I'm trying to compile a list of the names of Dave Robicheaux's wives. Annie (Ballard) and Bootsie (whose real name escapes me) come to mind. I can't remember the name of his first wife, the one who booked with the oilman from Houston. Can someone refresh my memory?
homas posts a message on 1/21/2005 1:35:58 PM From a January 2004 chat: James Lee Burke: I'm working right now on the last chapter of a Dave Robicheaux novel titled Crusader's Cross.
