Jane Austen Message Board

Sukie posts on 8/26/2013 9:46:11 AM I love Jane Austen and have liked a lot of the movies but the modern books not so much. Too many of them are racy and don't sound like Austen. The ones I have liked were Lady Vernon and her Daughter by Jane Rubino and her daughter Caitlin Rubino-Broadway and the books by Jane Odiwe. I also thought Jane Austen Made Me Do It a collection of stories with a Jane Austen connection was a fun read.
Juliana posts on 8/5/2013 2:24:45 PM The Jane Austen news this week is that the director who made the film Damsels in Distress last year is working on a project based on an early Jane Austen work, Love and Friendship.
Fran C. posts on 7/24/2013 8:44:57 AM I read a review just yesterday about the collection Jane Austen Made Me Do It. I agree with the blogger about which were the best stories. Even if you are not a big Jane Austen fan, the collection of short stores are a lot of fun to read.

Drew posts on 3/1/2013 3:18:45 PM Cool about Austenland. One of the few modern day Austen takes I liked. Neat anthology called Jane Austen Made Me Do It had 20 Austen related short stories, a couple moderns and the rest historical.
BarbaraL posts on 2/6/2013 10:33:57 AM I read that the big news coming out of the Sundance film festival was that Austenland by Shannon Hale was going to be released. It was produced by Stephanie Meyer.
Vivvie posts on 1/27/2013 7:36:48 AM I said it the wrong way! I meant to talk about all of the books based on Jane Austen books or characters. There are tons of sequels to Pride and Prejudice for example (none of them are very good), and some books based on characters like Mary Bennet, Darcy, Wentworth plus the modern books like Jane Austen Book Club or the adaptations like Lady Vernon and Her Daughter (very good). Plus there are the ones where Jane Austen is still "living" like Jane Bites Back.
justin posts on 1/25/2013 9:31:45 AM how could jane austin's book possibly be new when she's dead so long?
Vivvie posts on 1/25/2013 8:30:08 AM Has anyone read the new Jane Austen books? All the talk at Sundance was about the movie of Austenland that is produced by Stephanie Meyer. I liked Austenland a lot better than Jane Austen Book Club. I also liked "Lydia Bennet's Story" by Jane Odiwe, "A Match for Mary Bennet" by Eucharista Ward and "Lady Vernon and Her Daughter", by Jane Rubino and Caitlin Rubino Bradway. There are also two anthologies that are fun, "Dancing With Mr Darcy" and "Jane Austen Made Me Do It".
Kira posts on 11/30/2012 5:07:23 PM Jane Austen is the best writer of all the classic writers. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book ever but also get a laugh out of Emma. There are so many funny characters in that book makes me think of Dickens.
