Mary Jo Harper posts on 1/21/2006 1:52:11 PM and I was just overjoyed. I just turned 65 and am still not a rretired teacher...only 1 more year...but you are so brilliant, brave, and oh so inspirational. I could relate to all of it...the raising of my two boys and just feeling like I didn't want to mix in boyfriends that might make my sons feel less-than. I wanted to make sure to give them as much attention as I could. I, too, collapsed on my bed, to rise only to cook dinner and talk a little to them. How could I fit in a man. People don't realize how encompassing teaching is and how you spend so much of your energy on it, there's little left to lead a life. I did sneak in a few things when boys were with dad...a 21 year old fellow teacher when I was 35, too many fellow AA guys. I stopped when Herpes etc became such a deal that I didn't want. So I became a born-again virgin for the last 20 years. Your book inspired me to not give up ! Betty and Helen inspired me right out of my marriage. My ex once was so threated by one of those books, that he threw it in the trash...a lawyer yet ! All of my friends during that time were inspired by them and we all went out and had affairs...it was epidemic. It was difficult doing it alone but at least I was FREE ! So I really thought, forget about it, you are too old. But your book saved me ! Thank you so much. I'll let you know if I get lucky...don't really want to be tied down but to have some relationships and sex...YES !

Georgette Golec posts on 6/2/2005 3:58:45 PM Jane, I've been a widow since age 51, currently 58 married for 25 very good years. Husband was 46 at the time and I have lost a great deal. I have started to read your book and it is making a difference in me. I'm thinking of placing an ad. Everything in your book is so very very good and I am going to start living again. Thank you so very much.
K Andersen posts on 6/1/2005 2:16:15 PM I was talking to a co-worker of mine about men, and you know how those kind of conversations go. I made a comment about a 'round-heeled woman', and then had to explain to her what I meant. A week later, I was at a garage sale, and a woman was giving away the last few items she had, one of which was this book. I figured it was fate. Today I started to read, and came across an interesting connection I have with the author, we attended the same high school! I had around 94 students in my class, a bit larger than her 32, but there are not that many of us out there! I am only on page 31, but this promises to be a rewarding read, and I will pass the book around to all of my friends as soon as I am done!
Jim Riley posts on 5/24/2005 11:41:26 AM Jane: Just read your delightful book. I'll be 70 in December and would love to meet you if you're still in the neighborhood. I'm only 6 or 7 blocks away from the Claremont Library (Parker and Dana). Retired from the University 6 years ago and am now a collage artist.

Bree posts on 5/15/2005 5:02:42 PM For Jane and many of her readers, being 60something is history. How about a book from Jane on her take of how sex should, could, or does fit in the picture after reaching the big Seven-oh and beyond?
