Jean Sasson Message Board

posts on 10/12/2006 7:58:05 AM I assume the things she wrote are not false since she wouldn't be able to continue. Somebody would've pressed charges by now. I think it is positive that she is helping women, but I would like to see her write a story with a Muslim woman not always being the victim. What do you think?
posts on 9/24/2006 10:47:11 AM Hi Cara, I just came across this site today. I live in New York and have some knowledge of what you are talking about. You have your facts wrong on the woman who sued Sasson. It was a German or Austrian woman who was married to a Kuwaiti. She claimed the former agent and Sasson had conspired but the facts of the case showed that Sasson did not even know the agent in question until after she finished her book (she had another agent at the time of writing the PRINCESS book) and the Judge who heard the case not only threw the case out but also fined the woman for bringing such a stupid case to the courts. I also read that the woman who sued Sasson also sued another writer in England (a writer who had written about PAKISTAN) and said that the British writer also stole from her. Then I read where the same woman or her son sued the Kuwaiti government and then the British government. The fact that Sasson still writes and publishers still buy books from her certainly proves there was nothing but a bogus claim. When my brother had a book published, he was warned by other writers that every best-selling book brings out people who sue and that all writers have this problem with unpublished writers who try and find a wait to accuse others and get money. I heard about a silly case against John Grisham. I suppose as readers we have to realize that bogus lawsuits happen all the time and the only way to judge whether the author(s) are innocent is if they lose in court. When they don't, I, for one, will assume it is either someone who is delusional or plain mean, trying to get money that does not belong to them. Take care, Cara. Angie S.
posts on 9/24/2006 7:44:46 AM No disrespect meant, but I read online of a lawsuit filed by a European who was/is married to a Saudi prince, who tried to sell a similar manuscript to Jean Sasson's agent, who refused it, then later on Jean Sasson came out with a book which had a lot of comparable occurrences with the European lady's. Anyone know anything about this? Of course it could be coincidence. Nothing really ever came of the American writer who's Larry Potter children's series never took off, but sued JK Rowling when her Harry Potter series came out with startling similarities. I only just learned about Alex Haley pilfering many pages from the 1967 book The African for his own book (Roots), and paying $600,000 in a libel suit.

It is very interesting to know these facts, because I find that a lot of people don't know about history and it's a shame especially then they don't know the history of their own country. Well done.

posts on 8/25/2006 7:14:57 AM More power to you Jean Sasson! Thank you Cara. Rana: you are the best. Mayada: let the poor kooks say whatever they want. We know better. Love to all, Anna
posts on 8/25/2006 5:03:43 AM Aida, i am not emphsazing on anything, i am only answering to the queries and what is being brought up on this board. you are the one to assume we are mostly moslems, and also felt i should come back to raven with regards to his assumptions.I am in love with every human being on earth, with every child and with every one that is helpless and being taken along with things that are beyond his willingness and power. before anyone is anything , he is a human being. a baby moslem does not cry any different from a baby christian or a baby budist. it is what we implement in them and how we raise their minds is what makes these babies to grow different from each other.that is my belief. i am not open minded, i am someone that didn't forget that i am a human being.
posts on 8/25/2006 3:13:43 AM Cara, thanks for putting a smile on my face...Welcome relief... Honestly, I can easily deal with someone attacking & lying about me, as it comes with the territory of writing best-selling books. I don't let it get under my skin because generally the offenders are just plain NUTS, but when they start attacking other women whom I KNOW have overcome some horrific situations and have risen above, women who inspire me even as I write about them, then I must have my say. Doesn't do any good really, especially with the mentally deranged... Don't you think that women should help each other and take up for each other? I do... I will get in a scrap over Mayada's good name and other women I write and care about. Although most women are helpful to each other, there are some women who care only about themselves and make it their life's work to hurt others. One of my stalkers who does this is crimally insane, and is in and out of mental institutions. Thankfully, other readers of her mad ramblings figure her out pretty quick and take up for me. I used to feel sorry for her, thinking she can't help being mental, but she is so mean-spirited and low-down that every now and then I respond. I've been reading the Lebanese talk and will come back on that later as I am in touch with a number of Lebanese folks, but I'm afraid a long message won't be accepted! SO! Catch you later! Jean
