Carolyn Estrella posts on 3/31/2013 6:46:09 PM Hi Jeannette, Let me begin by saying that I loved your book. I read it around the time it came out and then I recently downloaded it to my kindle and it was as though I had never read it. This book evoked so many feelings that it was overwhelming at times. I have read many reviews and there are those who say you are in denial because of your positive attitude despite all you suffered at the hands of your parents. I know what it's like to have love for your family even if they are not the greatest role models or support so I applaud you for holding on to the great lessons you learned and for seeing the good in your parents. God bless
Carol (again) posts on 12/30/2011 2:04:15 AM To Lucy- 11/6/10 comment. My dtr in law saw me reading The Glass Castle, and told me that it was required reading for a class at Akron University-that her brother had read, then she saw her parents both reading it. To Ms Walls- please keep writing books.
Carol posts on 12/28/2011 2:35:48 PM Jeanette- Thank you for finding the courage&strength to survive, and to show others that poverty still exists in America. You could change your life, and live as the way you chose & still love those in their chosen lives. God's love shined through you toward others many times inyour stories. and does now as you share your stories. Not everyone can see how to do that and you offer much hope.

Christina posts on 5/10/2011 7:08:14 PM Ms. Walls, I just read your book, the glass castle for school. It was very interesting to learn how you were able to get by. Thank you for telling us your life's story!
Lucy posts on 11/6/2010 2:46:56 PM I want to say how your book touched me but the right words are difficult to find. You have helped me put things in perspective. Your book should be required reading, especially for sociology programs. You are an excellent teacher. As I prepared my breakfast table this morning, putting out the usual vast variety of foods for my family, I looked at it and saw it through your eyes and said a prayer for every hungry child.
Anita Warren posts on 10/23/2010 12:40:56 PM I started reading The Glass Castle Friday, late morning and pretty much did nothing else, until I finsied reading it around 2:30am. I then stayed awake until around 4am thinking about it. What a life and what a story. Thanks Jeanette for sharing what must have been a very challenging chance to take. AWESOME.
Dave (Nova Scotia Canada) posts on 10/8/2010 8:12:23 AM Hello Jeannette: I just finished reading both books: Half Broke Horses and The Glass Castle. My Dad self destructed like your Dad, Rex. Fortunately, my Mom ran our little country store and kept the family together. I was born the same year your parents were married and lived through alcoholism and those days when smoking was the thing. My Dad died about the same age as your Dad and the same way with a heart attack and then cancer from all the smoking. You gave me more of an insight into homelessness and I still believe that people choose their destiny. Your Mom chose hers. Thankyou for the great books. Dave
molly hodson posts on 8/4/2010 10:18:24 PM I just finished Glass Castle--how many times have you heard that? You are absolutely my hero. I'm giving your book to my granddaughter (15 1/2). It was an inspiration to me as I hope it will be for her. Whatever has happened to Lori, Brian and Maureen? Did they become as strong and straight as you? I hipe all is well for you all.
Leslie posts on 7/6/2010 12:51:31 PM Incredible book, one of my favourites, I kept saying "Wow" as I read each page, and I still think of this book weekly. I wanted to help Jeannette, her sister and brother. The resilency shown and the fantastic attitudes of the children made me appreciate that attitude is everything. Let's help others who truly need us. Thank you for writing this book, much happiness to you and your family!
Annabeth posts on 7/4/2010 1:30:36 AM I loved your book! Also, when is Lori's, Brian's, and Maureen's birthday? If you can also tell me Mary Charlene's that will be helpful! I'm writing your biography for school soooo...
