@brykins posts on 2/6/2012 5:12:45 AM Only just heard - sad times. Empty World was the first "proper" book I read, at the age of eleven and it shaped my taste in future for ever.
Martin Gruhn posts on 2/6/2012 4:50:18 AM Sam, you will be missed...no other characters in a book ever touched me as much as Will, Henry and Beanpole.
rose posts on 6/22/2011 4:55:15 PM I'm afraid Dad is none too well at the moment, Rodney, but I'll certainly pass on your best wishes to him.

Rodney Haydon posts on 6/22/2011 1:22:56 PM This board has been too quiet lately. I hope all is well with Samuel Youd and his family. I wish him the very best, and again give my thanks in creating such wonderful books! -Rodney
joe j posts on 3/24/2011 11:21:45 AM Samuel Youd. I read "The Guardians", "The Lotus Caves" and the trilogy back in the early 70's. "The Guardians" esp. has stuck with me. Even thought of naming my first daughter "Sonnet", which would have had its own little irony in that she is a nut about horses and riding. My imagination gets really drawn in by a good story well told, telling or reading. Even as far back as grade school in the 60's my schoolmates would have me read my stories to them. So what took me so long to write a book? Who even knows, lost the faith for awhile I suppose. I think that you are a strong choice for advice if you are available.
