Jasmine posts on 11/13/2013 8:52:43 PM Hi, I'm currently in year nine and I am studying the relationships in the text "Letters From the Inside". Fortunately, my school librarian told me that Tracey is in prison so that is what kept me reading at the start. But as I learnt the history of the two girls, that became my main objective. I found the ending spectacular! I love how it wasn't a cliché novel where the boy gets the girls and everything is 'Happily Ever After'. My only concern is that if a little bit more could have been explained about what happens to Mandy and Tracey after. Or even like a Epilogue from Tracey's point of view about 5 years later. Overall, this was an amazing book and it kept me on the edge of my seat for a long time. Thanks John and I hope to read your other books as well. :)
Jennie posts on 8/7/2013 2:22:28 AM Hi, my class has been studying this book recently. We would love to know if any other Australian Year 10's have been reading it lately either. Thanks, Jennie

Gwen posts on 8/7/2011 1:57:54 AM Dear John Marsden, our class has been doing an author study on you and your books. We have read the Tomorrow series, Letters From The Inside and Much To Tell You. Your books very good and you write extremely well. What annoys me is the unanswered questions in Letters From The Inside, like what happened to Mandy? and what did Tracy even do to get into Garret? i don't have a very good imagination and i can't figure it out for myself...
Annabelle posts on 4/19/2011 7:45:54 AM I have just finished reading this book (as in just then) and I have never been so distressed in the whole 13 and 5 months I have been living!!! I was scared of Steve from the start and I thought Mandy would just have been on holiday or something but then the book ended and I had to check it didn't have any pages missing!!! I think that Steve has gone even more psycho and has killed Mandy and co, and I'm so AAAAAAAAAARggghh!!!!!!! I don't know what Tracey would have felt like, having this friend to confide in, no matter how horrible her life was, and then not knowing why she isn't responding, and then possibly finding out that her idiot brother has gone and shot her! It is one of the most amazing and terrible books I have ever read at the same time, and I really hope that Tracey has a good life after all of this. D':
naomi posts on 12/21/2010 2:25:54 AM This aazing book has had me thinking for hours now. The first conclusion i made was that Tracey had simply made up Mandy altogether and she was going insane, hence why she was being told by the matron that she would be in the Med Unit for longer. Then by reading other reviews and comments, i'm lead to believe that Mandy was real and was murdered in a massacre type event, maybe in a McDonalds as is mentioned in Mandy's last letter. The reason i say massacre is because of Tracey's dream that she mentions, refers to it as a bloodbath with knives and bullets. The word bullets then brought me back to guns that Mandy's brother owned. I would love to have these thoughts brought together into ONE ending!
Maddy posts on 6/24/2010 2:34:04 PM I just reread this book, the last time being when I was about 13, I am 20 now. I never realised how many things I missed before, the story makes so much more sense now. I always picked up what happened with Tracey, but now Mandy disappearing has hit me hard. I haven't cried from a book in a long time. But peicing it all together really got to me. The way I saw it anyway. I'm not holding out for a sequel, but I would love to one day know what happened with Tracey once she got out. Definately stealing this book from my mothers place and keeping it with me.
anais posts on 10/7/2009 3:33:23 PM Does letters from the inside have a second part. Like a sequal.
Alicia posts on 1/16/2009 8:21:41 PM This book was excellent, and has left a lot of unanswered questions. Mostly, why is Tracey in jail, and what happened to Mandy. Some people have suggested that Tracey might have killed her father - that can't be it because she mentions that her father is in jail. Others have suggested that she killed Raz, but that can't be it either, because she says "by the time Raz and I were finished..." - this is the closest she gets to telling the truth about why she's in there. It suggests that her and Raz hurt or killed someone. And why didn't a member of Mandy's family write and tell Tracey what had happened to her? I think that's because they were ALL killed, not just Mandy. A sequel would be fabulous please!!!
maddie posts on 1/6/2009 8:12:45 AM Hi. I read this book when I was alot younger and didn't really follow it, seeing as when I got to the end all i thought was that it wasn't a very good book because mandy just stopped writting. But i have read it again resently and realised how much more to the book there is. Although there are many unanswered questions in this book i still loved ... it leaves more to the imagination. The characters really draw you in. great book.(poor Tracey)
