John Sandford Message Board

I enjoy all of the novels, especially the Prey series and have been reluctant to send this message. Many years ago I had a wonderful language teacher who would walk around the class room and say "These are not words" (i.e. irregardless, enthused, etc.) and complected. When I read she was fair-complected (many times) I cringe. Sorry. And, for what it's worth, I think the books would be just as successful without the foul language. Now I'm through.

Should John Sanford's "Prey" series be read in a particular order?

Does anyone know where Mr. Sandford might have gotten the last name of "Marsalis" for one of his characters?

I'm almost done with Phantom Prey and Loved it. Belinda sees a change in this book versus earlier work. Well, authors change and grow too so why no Mr. Sandford. Lucas has obviously changed in the last few books since he married Weather and had a child but, it was definately time for him to settle down and he doesn't seem any worse for wear. He is a little whipped and I would like him to tell Weather off once in awhile, but the writing is excellent and the plot to this one was really good, I had trouble putting it down. Great work Mr. Sandford

you can read the books out of order, the characters move from book to book, but the mystery story is so good you can look past where Lucar is at the moment in his love life

I don't remember the name of the book, but she did become Lucas' ward, and I've been waiting for John Sanford to use her again as a main character. She was such a spunky gal...I wanted to see how she develops, but so far, her existence has been minimal at best.
The new character Virgil Flowers is interesting though and developing well.
