Jonathan Safran Foer Message Board

Ute posts on 10/28/2006 5:45:57 PM I am German and I have just finished "Extremely loud and incredibly close". As I looked through the book in the store I was wondering why there are so many "srange"pages, but if you read it, you feel that they are on the right place. It is a great book and it moved me to tears, especially the part of the description of the bombing in Dresden. I was there several times - it is a very beautiful city. A German TV studio has made a movie of the fire in Dresden, it was shown some months ago. It gives you an imagination about the cruelties which have happened there. I would like to know if Mr Foer has been to Dresden.
posts on 10/14/2006 1:00:02 AM I am a student. I am expected to conduct a research paper in one month concerning one piece of literature. I chose "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" because a close friend of mine told me to. I read it. I heard it from an audiobook. I read it again. And once more. And then I told everyone about it. I told people the truth; this book isn't for everyone, but if you discover it's for you, cherish it...and read it more than once. I was so afraid I had missed a very important point in the story along the way and that is the reason I re-visited it multiple times. Perhaps the fact I have been known to 'think too much' is the reason I adore this novel. There are always new meanings, hidden messages and heart warming images that seap into my phyche everytime I read the book. I can't wait until my professor reads my report. ...Maybe I'll post it!
