posts on 7/31/2006 12:38:59 AM Darren, can you give us a little hint about the content of your book? Now I AM curious!

posts on 7/31/2006 12:37:26 AM Time is something man has been desperate to understand for centuries. It seems people measure time in different ways. Some feel that they never have enough time. Some feel they have too much. Some feel that time flies. Some wish they could travel through time. It is our enigmatic friend and foe. Nothing has been speculated upon more than time. Ken Grimwood has not only written a book that hits on a lot of our fantasies and feelings about time but he's written a book about the many facets of ourselves. It's a book about man's need for wealth, power, meaning, love, lust, excess, creativity, and imagination. It's about a man who learns to nurture the great potential within himself and goes through life without the fears that hold him back. Ultimately it's about the preciousness of life and how we should appreciate and make the most of our time. Jeff is our main character and the story starts as he has a fatal heart attack and wakes up twenty five years earlier in College. He wakes up with the renewed strength and vitality of youth and something even better. He wakes up with knowledge of the next twenty five years. He lives the next twenty five years and changes his history. But when he dies twenty five years later he wakes up again in the past. Each time he dies and awakens the cycle shortens from months to years cutting his "replays" down in length. He can't understand why this happens and it is the books only weakness that we never find out either. Perhaps we weren't meant to. Perhaps Jeff is all of us trying to figure out the ever elusive meaning of life. Through each new "replay" Grimwood has made us as excited as Jeff in finding out what will change. Jeff starts by winning the Kentucky derby and moves on from there. He acquires great wealth, has many affairs, abuses drugs, writes wonderful and insightful things, meets and has a wonderful affair with another "replayer" throughout many of his cycles. I was delighted by this fun, nostalgic, and very thought provoking book. It took me through time on an adventure of amazing personal depth and left me contemplating and speculating dreamily on it's many universal themes. I have read and written a lot my whole life and this is my favorite book of all time. I've read it, let time pass, and have read it again. Each time I read it I see and feelmore. Great literature is like that. It can be appreciated and speculated upon for years. Before you run out of time I suggest you read REPLAY.
posts on 7/31/2006 12:35:42 AM I'd love to read your book, Darrin! I hope it gets published. I'll keep my fingers crossed...
posts on 7/30/2006 11:25:15 PM I loved REPLAY. It was my favorite book of all time and I am a very avid reader and writer. I read REPLAY several more times and then wrote the sequel in two notebooks I'm yet to type out. I tried to get in touch with Ken Grimwood's sister but to no avail. It is a continuation with the same characters. It is my dream to read the half of REPLAY he did write and finish it for him. Not just for me but for all the fans that were so moved by his book. Sometimes dreams come true.I pray this one does-:)
posts on 7/23/2006 8:29:53 PM Since the sad demise of Ken Grimwood, has anyone thought about writing a second replay using the characters from the end of Replay?
