Phil Caminiti, pastor of the church Lori and her family host and attend, was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by six years parole for instructing members of his congregation to strike children as young as two weeks old with wooden spoons and dowels. He is also barred from having contact with members of that church, and cannot hold a leadership position in any church. Phil and his wife, as well as Lori and her husband Bob, and three other members have a history spanning over thirty years- going back to when they met at college. Yes, Lori clearly knew what was going on. If they ban Phil's son from the pulpit (he is currently the sole elder of that church, and also faces charges), they will be free. Let's hope.

I'm sorry for your neice Sh. I know who she is. My family and I were once one of the brainwashed who attended this cult. Thankfully the Lord opened our eyes and we left. We are now shunned by all of them. It breaks our heart knowing dear friends are still so blind. Not a day goes by that we don't pray for these people. Stay encouraged. God is mightier than Phil Caminiti.

Prayers would be appreciated for my niece who is one of the people charged with child abuse...hitting her 8 week old son with a dowel 2 to 5 times a week for things like cooing in church. She has been completely brainwashed by this church ...she lived with Lori Wick for a while. Pray for the people of this church and devastated families.

Go to a Madison WI news site and look up Phil Caminiti. Phil is Lori Wick's pastor. A jury today found him guilty on eight felony counts of conspiracy to commit child abuse. It is not over yet- Phil's two oldest children, their spouses, and Tim and Andrea Wick (son and DIL of Lori) have yet to stand trial for their involvement in the ordeal. Pray.

BW, there is a HUGE difference between giving a child ONE spank like you do and beating infants with wooden dowels to the point of bruising. I am not planning on using any type of corporal punishment for my son and future children, but I do not think that spanking is inherently abusive if it is done lovingly and without temper. I am tolerant of discipline like yours, but not of abuse.
Really, if you read the police reports you will see how twisted and disgusting this church is. If the pastor felt his wife wasn't being obedient or cheerful enough, he confined her to her bedroom and ordered her "shunned." Like, she wasn't allowed to speak or be spoken to by her own children!
Yes, God is our ultimate judge. Yes, I am a sinner, too. Yes, I am praying for everyone in this situation, including my own judgmental heart. But NO, I do not have to condone this behavior.

Oh my! Talk about casting the first stone. Christians, please have mercy and forgiveness. Pray for Lori and her family. Maybe this information is as bad as it sounds, but one who has been on the wrong side of the media, have mercy. I believe in a spank (notice I didn't say spanking) of a young child. My child's pride was hurt - not his body. God is in control of this situation. Lori is a great writer and I enjoy her books immensly. Pray for her - don't stone her.

I've really struggled with this news for the past few months. Lori's lovely books are one of the things that led me to seek out God twelve years ago...so how can that be bad, regardless of the person she is?
But all of this makes me sick. I read the police reports (they are posted online) and her pastor condones beating two-month-old children with thick dowels to the point of bruising for "grumpiness." My own son was about two months old when I first read this, and it turned my stomach.
While I do pray that Lori will see her own sin and for all of the poor children involved in this, I think I will continue to read the books she has written. If she does write other books, I will NOT be purchasing them, because she gives a large amount of money to a church that condones child abuse.
Anyway, please keep us updated with news on the trial.
