Luanne Rice Message Board

posts on 8/10/2006 7:05:41 PM I've recently started reading Luanne Rice's books, and am already addicted. What I'd like to know is how many have connected characters? I just finished True Blue, which has characters from Safe Harbor. Augusta Renwick appeared in another one (can't remember title). Thanks for any help you can give me. Pat
posts on 8/8/2006 1:50:19 PM When I read a synopsis of Sandcastles, I decided to wait for paperback to come out. Weak that I am, I bought the hardcover because Luanne Rice is one of my favorite authors, however I was so disappointed in this book. It just didn't sound like her usual writing. I found it missing something all the way through...from the beginning. Hope that doesn't keep up.
posts on 8/8/2006 12:17:59 PM Please tell me that you've already begun the sequel to Sandcastles. What happens to Bernie and Tom? Agnes and Brendan? Regis' last year of college???

matha waddell posts on 8/11/2005 1:37:15 PM Oh believe me I am not a prude!!!! The sex scenes I can deal with. It's the language that the teenage boy used that I have a problem with. Yes I know in "todays" "real world" that may be the way kids talk I just don't happen to think it's necessary in order to write a good book that's all I am saying. I have been reading Karen Kingsbury books and I know, I know, she writes "Christian" books,so don't go there with me,ok, but they are real life stories. You should read Another Tuesday Morning. It's about 9/11 and very very good. All of her books are. I am sure Luanne is a great writer. I read some of Nora Roberts books too and she can have some really steamy sex scenes.I read a lot of Barbara Delinsky books too and they are great. Ok that's enough from me for one day. Thanks for listening. Have a great day.
Linda posts on 8/8/2005 7:35:18 PM Martha ... a few pages is nothing compared to some of the moviea out! Ms. Rice is an incredible writer and she puts you there particularly in the Black Hall/Hubbard Point novels. I hope you aren't giving up on her as you'd be missing a lot...I do agree that "that word" doesn't belong in our language, but cannot be a prude about it at my age ... maybe my mother can at 80!
Anita posts on 8/8/2005 6:57:28 PM I can't believe how different the book is from the movie. Disappointed!!!
gina ruzzo posts on 8/8/2005 6:29:05 PM I have never read any Luanne Rice novels before. I happened to be at the beach when lifetime was promoting the mini series,Beach Girls. The promotion included the novel among other things. Needless to say,I began to read and was unable to put the book down. That very night was the beging of the mini series and I was so dissappointed that the author would allow the story to be change such much. The series that is airing can not even begin to touch the heart of your book. I have to say I not interested in the T.V. version because it takes away the magic in your writing.
matha waddell posts on 8/8/2005 1:51:19 PM I just got through reading this book and when I got to page 110 and was ready to start the next page I noticed that it was page 47. Well I thought I might be losing my mind,ha, but as I continued to look I saw that pages 111 to 142 was missing. Not that it's a big deal but I thought someone needed to know just in case this was a problem with all the Blue Moon books. I got this at Wal-Mart. While I thought the story itsef was good I didn't like the "f" word being used by a 16 yr. old boy and in front of his Mom and Dad. I thought that showed a lack of respect. But then I don't think the "f" word has any place in the English language. In fact all the "f" words could have been left out and the story would still have been very good if not better. Also the "sex" scene with the 13 yr. old girl was a little much.
