Luanne Rice Message Board

Linda posts on 8/8/2005 12:29:20 PM Sissy...from what Ms. Rice said on GMA she did have input with the mini series, but looks like they kind of spiced it up some ...
June posts on 8/8/2005 1:34:29 AM I have been watching the movie version of Beach Girls and I am also very disappointed with the changes. I do have a nagging question about the additional characters...do some of them seem like they are in other books by Ms. Rice? Maybe it's just me....
Sissy posts on 8/8/2005 12:23:49 AM Linda, Did she have input on writing the script? I was told by an author who had sold one of her books to Hollywood that she could have no say in the script writing. She could sit in on it but they would do it their way. I saw one by LaVyrle Spencer and wouldn't have recognized it had I not seen the title.

Linda posts on 8/7/2005 2:05:28 PM Luanne Rice did have input on the script for Beach Girls. In fact she has a cameo in the movie ... on the boardwalk in a large brim hat ... per the author on GMA with Robyn Roberts talking about Summer of Roses (her first sequel novel) and talking about Beach Girls...Off the subject of Luanne Rice, but on the movie conversions ... Nicolas Sparks with The Notebook was another one that didn't end the way the book did with the movie leaving you in suspense at the end ...I am afraid maybe Beach Girls may do the same thing...
Sissy posts on 8/6/2005 10:35:01 PM Usually our questions are answered by fans who read the same books we do or like the same authors. I've never seen an author visit one of these message boards, but that doesn't mean they don't. You usually ask questions of authors by visiting their websites. I didn't know the movie BEACH GIRLS was on the other night. I've learned to not watch movies of books I've read and liked. They seldom pan out like they should. The author has no control of the movie script.
Deanna Keating posts on 8/6/2005 10:01:44 PM How do we get answers to the questions that we ask on the message board?
Linda posts on 8/6/2005 1:12:24 PM My favorite book was Cloud Nine, but Safe Harobor, Firefly Beach and Summer Light have a lot of intertwining the characters you've come to love with you actually picturing Black Hall! Additionally, just received my copy of Summer of Roses so off the suspense of what happens with the psycho ex-husband...
Deanna Keating posts on 8/6/2005 12:08:21 AM I am so glad to see that I am not the only one dissappointed in the movie version of "The Beach Girls". I definetly will read more of mLuanne Rices books but, I don"t think I'll be watching them as a movie. Beach Girls was my first Luanne Rice book and I also would like to know if I should start reading more of them from a certain book or does it matter?
Deanna Keating posts on 8/5/2005 8:03:25 PM I read your book "Beach Girls" and enjoyed it very much. When I saw that it was made into a movieI was excited to see it. I am very disgusted to think you would allow the making of the movie to destroy your story so totally. The movie doesn't follow the book at all. How could you allow this. Very dissappointed Deanna Keating
Linda posts on 8/3/2005 7:33:10 PM I have finally tracked down the last two books I need to read ... Homes Fires and Follow the Stars Home ... which when I am done I can honestly say I will have read every single book written by Luanne Rice... Watched Beach Girls Sunday nite and unfortunately fell asleep, but enjoyed the story line and the characters were great in "real life"...
