Mark C. Ross Message Board

Anonymous posts on 9/28/2009 4:04:23 AM Many people asked about Mark's safari contact information. It was not hard to find. Try Micato Safaris, they have a private adventure by private plane pilot Mark Ross. Cost of 36k for 14 days.
Anonymous posts on 9/20/2009 12:22:41 PM While on safari with Mark Ross last year, I wondered about his lack of true concern about wildlife...I didn't expect that from him. He also continually talked about himself and we wondered how much of what he told us was actually true. It got to be rather boring after awhile. We wanted to talk to the others in our group but it was tough when Mark was around. I also felt that our drivers didn't care for Mark very much. We were very disappointed and will not use Mark as our guide again.
Anonymous posts on 9/19/2009 6:50:28 AM As a local Kenyan, stay clear of Mark Ross. His behaviour towards local people is appalling as is his behaviour towards the wildlife itself. He throws things at elephants, lions etc. you name it, presumably to get the animal's attention. Any good guide would simply not behave in this manner. Worse, first time clients think that this is the norm. He is loathed in East Africa and has been banned from lodges and camps. Hopefully more will be added to the list of those who don't want him around. Ask him about Bwindi!

Amanda posts on 9/2/2009 7:25:37 PM Sad unless you have been taken advantage of by Mr. Ross.
Brutus & Ciku posts on 7/22/2009 10:13:36 AM It's sad to read such serious allegations about Mark.I know him as an honest, caring good man. Please, if you have nothing positive to write, don't write anything at all.
a victim posts on 7/22/2009 8:28:44 AM your time is near Mark, for the anguish and pain you have caused so many by manipulating and cheating them out of their hard earned money. Many will be happy for that day !!! to all those intending to hire Mark please don't take this lightly.Be WARNED!!
One who's been there posts on 7/9/2009 3:52:10 PM How does this man keep on harming so many people?!?!? It happened to me several years ago, the lying, seducing, cheating. Yes, I was asked to transport items for him. When I realized how horrid he was and asked that he no longer contact me I started receiving hundreds of emails and phone calls daily!!! Had to get an unlisted number, change my email and if he had lived in my town I would have gotten a restraining order. He is one scary guy; an ugly little man who should not be allowed to host safaris.
Matt posts on 6/6/2009 4:57:35 AM Hi there, as a safari guide in Africa since 1981, I was pleased to read Mr Ross' book 'Dangerous Beauty'. Sir, your descitpions are vivid and you have obviously been there. Some of the people you speak of in the book I also know personally. Just a thought; I have never seen Grant's Gazelle in the Chizarira N.Park, in fact no-one I know has. Well written stuff, you have a way with words and too few guides have attempted what you have done and kept it readable.
Anonymous posts on 5/22/2009 7:06:38 PM I just found this blog when doing a search for Mark's latest book, and felt compelled to add a bit of my insight regarding Mark and Mark Ross Safaris. I have had several wonderful safaris with Mark over the years, and he is a very knowledgeable man when it comes to birding and wildlife. That being said, I did learn the hard way that he is not an honest man on many accounts. If you choose to go on safari with him I would simply recommend getting everything in writing, distributing all tips yourself directly to the locals, do not agree to purchase items for him up front, and make sure you do not take any women on the trip with you.
anonymous posts on 5/8/2009 1:28:59 PM Mark, You also cheated me on my tanzanite purchases - big-time. I know you are skimming a huge amount of money off the top of tanzanite sales. I have also heard your "guarantee" is bogus. How can you live with yourself? What kind of a man doesn't live up to his word? Does your wife know how many women you have lied to and cheated?
