Julie posts on 4/18/2008 2:12:26 PM I ran away at 14,bus to the bypass and hitched to London, no money no idea.I was introduced to smack when I was 17 and used till I was 21.I had a brutal childhood and heroin was the only thing that made me feel safe, brave and strong. I worked in a sauna and stole to support mine and my boy freind's habit.Smack destroys your self worth, but is the only thing that can take away that feeling of worthlesness. It stopped me feeling bad, it stopped me feeling anything. I managed to get clean and stay clean,Im 44 now and proud that I was able to come off and stay off. I have to say that Burgesess book has to be one of the most honest portrayals of heroin addiction that I have read, we really did think we knew it all!Sad to say I still know people from that time that are still addicted, makes you want to cry.

pip posts on 2/28/2005 5:29:19 PM Junk is a really class book, I really couldn't put it down once i'd started. Thanks to the way Melvin Burgess describes the characters you really feel like you know them and this is great because you feel apart of the story. It's also great because it deals with so many feelings and emoitions, like love, it also deals with aspects of peoples life such as drug abuse and gave me personally a completely different look at some of the problems heroin addicts face. This book is definately a satisfying read and i'd recomend it to anyone!
ellie posts on 1/19/2005 9:45:22 PM This book is the most honest book out there. If you want a look in on what many teens go through including myself read this. I am numb and i cryed i cryed for everyone out there who has been through the thruth, the painfull truth of love lust sex and drugs it is the most execellerating but painfull the best the worst flying and falling. this book is a drug its self.
