Dave, I've read Master of None and liked it a great deal. I loved the way the matriarchal society was drawn: not idealized in any way, full of complex, nasty politics. Just like any real power structure. And the protagonist's emotional journey was equally believable. I thought about the story for a long time after.
But the book that hit me hardest was Faraday's Orphans. I still think of that book everytime I hear the news about Sudan, Bosnia, anywhere society has degenerated to tribal warfare and anarchy. It was a rough read, but really made me think about things.
I look forward to Redemption.

Marsha, you might like to pick up Lee's last published work, "Master of None". It's very good.

I loaned my copy to my girlfriend, who is not a reader of SF, she loves Anne Rice, and she really loved the book. She wanted me to tell you it was a wonderful book and she could not put it down. I tried to explain to her that your book was real SF and not what most think SF is which is "Star Wars.
Hope it's not too hot for you up in the north country.

My goodness! Someone who actually doesn't even know me! Cool! Very happy to 'meet' you, and glad you enjoyed my book(s). I've just finished 'Redemption', and am in the middle of proofing the galleys for my next novel (not sf! and under the name Lee Wood) called Kingdom of Lies, out this November, working on the sequel now called 'Kingdom of Madness', both British crime novels. It is strange, working on my own, and although I do read my reviews (but never respond to them) it is nice to know there are actual real people (other than friends and family) who read my work.

And then tonight it occured to me to wonder: 'Who IS this woman?" So I turned to Google...
And I wonder, what leads you to these dark, unflinching subjects? I'm still in recovery after reading Faraday's Orphans. ;-)
So, I get to look forward to terrorism next time, eh?
