Nevada Barr Message Board

posts on 7/6/2006 9:52:31 PM The blurb above this link says something about "new and old books that Andrews has written..." Huh? The link says this is a discussion board about Nevada Barr. OK, I am seriously confused now.
posts on 6/12/2006 3:27:10 AM In Los Angeles, the TIMES has an author event list for the week in the back of the Book Review section. Your local or nearby big city paper probably does too. I have found that not all author appearances are listed, however, so I get on the e-mail list for several LA bookstores, i.e., Vroman's in Pasadena, Barnes&Noble, and Borders. Especially when the author is also a celebrity, like Phil Jackson, Jane Fonda, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, etc. their dates are sometimes left out of the Times schedule, probably to attract a smaller crowd. The autograph seekers are usually discouraged, they have to buy or show up with the book being signed to get in. You can usually bring other books by the author for signing as well, usually not discouraged except for Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton (has he written anything else?) who are still under secret service protections...any other question? I'm a librarian, and I also collect first editions, so I go to these affairs as often as possible, in LA that can be weekly, hope its that good where you are. DennisLee

posts on 4/25/2006 9:33:31 PM Once long ago I played the piano for a production of Guys and Dolls in which a Nevada Rae Barr nearly stole the show during the 'Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" number. Always wondered if it was the author.
KM posts on 2/13/2006 6:38:15 PM Well it's February and I look forward to this time of year because I know the new Nevada Barr book will be coming out! So??? I've checked the publisher web site but am unable to find anything. I hope everything is alright and I hope to read a new Anna mystery soon. Thanks.
D L from Minnesota posts on 2/8/2006 8:00:58 PM O.K. So it is a bit of realism, but it is also basically sick. I am not a prude, but I found this too much to handle. Yes, the world can be a scary place, and there are psycho-socio-paths out there who abuse and torment. But really, was this helpful? Did it have any redeeming qualifications other than the right of the author to shock and disturb? What compelled the author to write this? Did she want to expose her own dark side to the light of day?? This author will not be able to expose herself to the light of this reader again.
Phyllis Hammons posts on 1/26/2006 2:31:57 PM I love your books and thoroughly enjoyed meeting you at a book-signing in Milwaukee. When do we get another Anna book? Are you well, Nevada? Anxiously waiting in Texas, Phyllis Hammons
Ashford posts on 12/27/2005 2:14:44 AM It's fun to visit the National Parks and walk about where Anna's been. I've even caught myself looking for her when visiting the Parks. She's such a for-real character, with all her faults and foibles. My absolute favorite Anna Pigeon mystery is Blind Descent. The descriptive passages of the cave and Anna's fear read several years ago can still give me a chill. I plan a trip every year I call Two Women and a Tent where I invite a friend camping and hiking. The year Blood Lure came out, no one would go with me. That's better than good writing; that's great writing. I know writing is hard work. The work put into the Anna Pigeon series is motivational to women on a personal and career level, to travelers, and to other writers. I read Ms Barr has a home in New Orleans. I sincerely hope the hurricane damage to her area was minimal. Ashford
