If you like Nicholas Sparks then checkout this one, HERB'S FIRST 100 YEARS & THE BOOK OF TRUTHS,by Randy Perkins. Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author but Randy Perkins might have become my second favorite with this book. Emotional, fun read. It was gift for Christmas. I read it in one sitting and could not put it down.

does the main character(s) die in every one of sparks books? i'd like to read more, but i'm not interested in going on these journeys only to have the whole thing end in death everytime. I can't make it through another Notebook!

Yes, In the end of the book Singer does die.. But i think you should finish anyways because you should see how he dies.. Its really not that sad because he died protecting what he loved.
But i wont tell you how
