Jack Thompson posts on 9/5/2010 11:44:47 AM In the Butch Karp novels you present government officials as corrupt. In your opinion are there many corrupt government officials?
Beverlie Anne Bartlett posts on 6/18/2010 3:29:11 AM I have read nearly all of Mr Tanenbaum's books and reread them over the years. So has my daughter. I have never enjoyed any others so much. I also have wondered how come not one movie. Butch and Marlene are such wonderful characters. I used to see Susan Saradan playing Marlene and Ron Perlman as Butch. Keep on writing sir. Bev. chaim klein posts on 6/8/2010 1:17:14 AM Mr. Tannenbaum, I so regret no longer being able to read your books. When I used to finish one, I waited with great anticipation for the next one and grabbed it immediately off the shelf. I don't know what happened . The Karps were the first family of crime fiction. Can they be restored to their past glory. Best wishes.

Diane posts on 1/26/2010 11:10:57 AM Huh? Robert Tanenbaum, I love your books, have read everyone except the "Piano etc." title and when I find it I will read it. Thank you for the hours of pleasure I get hunkered down with your writings. Anxiously looking forward to your next book as always. Again, many thanks.
Lynn S posts on 1/25/2010 7:09:37 PM Dear Mr. Tanenbaum and readers all: As a long time English teacher and a lover of the English language, I have been offended almost daily in recent weeks, by the novels I am reading and the newspaper and even Time and Newsweek, by their author's or editor's misuse of the word "into." We all make mistakes but perhaps my note can help some of us do better. "Into" is a preposition. "In to" is an adverb plus a preposition. The noun that follows "into" must be the object of the preposition "into" while the noun that follows "in to" can only be the object of the preposition "to." If you need gas for your car, you turn "in to" the gas station. If you turn "into" the gas station, you BECOME the gas station. In the case of a pumpkin, of course, you'd have to turn "into" a pumpkin, since you couldn't turn "in to" a pumpkin unless you were a mouse or an ant and the pumpkin had been hollowed out to make way for your entry. I'm reading "Fury" and have found three misuses of the word "into." Otherwise, I am enjoying it greatly, in spite of the unfortunate loss of your co-author whose sense of humor infused every line of the books he "helped with." Your sentence structure is so stilted, Mr. Tanenbaum, sort of like mine.
C. Morency posts on 1/19/2010 9:42:34 PM I wanted you to know that the word you spell as "hippy" is correctly spelled "hippie". Your usage and spelling are offensive.
Cher posts on 12/17/2009 7:43:06 PM THEDIEHARD: If you had read all of the books, you would have possibly noticed that the last three weren't written by the same person who wrote the first ones. There's no way!!! I don't care if it was Michael Gruber who wrote the first ones or not, but whoever wrote them is a first-rate writer --- the last three were written by an idiot!
Phil Peters posts on 12/9/2009 8:39:51 PM Mr.Tanenbaums books a wonderful, when i start to read i cant stop, can some one tell me why, none of his books have been made into a movie,or a tv series,i know they would be great
TheDieHard posts on 12/9/2009 12:57:11 AM Gruber is a pretentious jerk. He didn't write or even collaborate on any of Tanenbaum's books. Pay attention to reality here. If he had, his name would be on the cover, or at least on the inside, DUH?
ginny posts on 11/5/2009 7:16:52 PM thank goodness I found this website - I began reading the Butch/Marlene series this year - very intellectual couple - conversations are fabulous or should I say were - now it's drivel - when you don't realize what's going on, you think these characters have had frontal lobotomies - I read Hoax,Fury and now Counterplay - it's all wrong - what a huge disappointment - loved these characters and now they're gone - shall we have a wake for them or sit shiva?
