Yes, after my first reading of Rose Daughter, I felt vaguely disappointed; but after my second reading, I decided it was actually rather good. The Blue Sword as well as The Hero and the Crown were great reads as well, but I preferred the sequel. And even though this comment may sound rather discrediting to the main protagonist in those books, my favorite character was the horse, Talat. He simply delighted me. And there is a very distinct comparison between the characters of Aerin and Rosie. Although Rosie is from Spindle's End, she and Aerin are very alike. For example, they both loathe dresses and frills. They also are rather similar in personalities.

these stories are mostly Fairy Tales that have been rewritten into books, they are awsome!!

I just read Door in the Hedge, which is 4 stories in one book. It was pretty good, giving details and feeling to the stories. Yes, the ending to Rose Daughter is very untraditional, but I liked it, as you said, it shows that it really is what's inside that counts.

thanks for clearing that up, i thought that is what happened, but i just wasnt sure! Ya, i read Beauty, and i LOVED it. I liked the message Rose Daughter brough across, but i am a purist and love tradition, so it did bother me a little bit!

Yes the beast stayed a beast on the outside. I agree it is very different from the traditional version. I kind of liked the change because it really brings home the message that what a person appears is not want they are. Have you read Beauty by McKinley yet? It is much more traditional, ending and all.

Hi all, i just finished rose daughter, and i dont know if i read it right. Did he really stay a beast, cause i dont like that if that is what happened! i dont know, its cool that she could love him even as a beast but i think it kinda unromantisizes the though story of beauty and the beast!

Well I'll try and post again. The site I was thinking of is called robinmckinleydotcom. I believe it is her official site as opposed to a fan site. I remember specifically seeing a section about questions for school reports and such. Good luck.
